Babyface and Wife Nicole Pantenburg File for Divorce after 7 Years of Marriage
Kenneth Brian Edmonds, who goes by his stage name Babyface, is an accomplished R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer. He has produced many hits throughout his career and is also the recipient of 12 Grammy Awards.
While the singer is highly successful in his professional life, the same cannot be said for his personal life. On July 13, 2021, he announced he was separating from his wife, Nicole Pantenburg.
Babyface’s Divorce
The singer and Pantenburg are separating after seven years of marriage. The pair gave a joint statement to The Blast, sharing that they have decided to end their marriage.
The couple explained that the separation was mutual, and they still cared for one another. However, their major priority was their 12-year-old daughter Peyton. The duo also asked for privacy for their family’s sake as they navigate the new situation.
Pantenburg is a dancer best known for That '70s Show, Longshot and Chasing Papi. She met the singer when she was his backup dancer in 2007.
They started dating the same year and welcomed their first child Peyton Nicole on September 9, 2008. After seven years of dating, the pair got married on May 17, 2014.
This is not the first divorce for Babyface. Before Pantenburg, he was married to Tracey Edmonds. Edmonds is a businesswoman, television producer, and CEO of Edmonds Entertainment Group Inc.
Babyface and Edmonds got married on September 5, 1992. The pair share two sons — Brandon and Dylan. They got divorced after 13 years of marriage in 2005, citing irreconcilable differences.
Babyface’s Successful Career
Babyface started his career in the music industry when he was a teenager. He joined local R&B bands and started playing music.
He was then recognized by the legendary Bootsy Collins, who called him ‘Babyface’ because of his youthful look. So, that is how Babyface got his stage name.
He soon joined a band named Manchild and signed his first record deal with them in 1977. He released three albums with the band. Unfortunately, Manchild broke up after the release of the third album.
In the early 80s, the two remaining band members, Babyface and Antonio "L.A." Reid, formed their urban funk group called the Deele. The pair released three albums and many top hits.
They also started writing and producing for other aspiring singers. Once again, after the release of their third album, Babyface and Reid parted ways to start their solo career. Babyface’s solo career took off, and he received massive success.
He has released ten studio albums, one live album, two remix albums, three compilation albums, and over 35 singles. Similarly, he has written over 100 songs for other singers and producers in the industry.
He has collaborated with many famous singers like Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, Ariana Grande, Snoop Dogg, Usher, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, and Stevie Wonder, among others.
He also has his own record label, LaFace Records, with Reid. With everything Babyface has done, he has amassed a massive net worth. According to Celebrity Net Worth, as of 2020, Babyface has a net worth of a whopping $200 million.
