Immense passion for journalism led American award-winning journalist Sandra Hughes leave her job as a media personality and lead her life as a University Instructor for journalism students. Starting in local news, she worked for ABC, PBS and CBS affiliates across the country, as a general assignment reporter, crime and court reporter and anchor.

Sandra Hughes Kazarian is an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Journalism and Communication. She has received several awards for her contributions in journalism. She was nominated for the News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Investigative Report in a Newscast.

Sandra Hughes was born on 19th February 1963 in Charleston, Illinois, United States. She was very passionate for journalism from her childhood such is the reason why she chose journalism for graduation. She completed her education from the University of Illinois in 1985. She holds a B.S. degree in broadcast journalism. 

Know Sandra Hughes Career And Her CBS Journey

Sandra’s first job in broadcast journalism was at WCEE-TV in Mt.Vernon, Illinois in 1985. She was also a reporter and substitute anchor at WTVR-TV Richmond, Virginia.

Sandra joined CBS in the year 1993 as a News Correspondent and worked there for 18 years in Los Angeles. She worked for CBS Evening News, Early Show, Weekend News, Sunday Morning and 48 Hours.

She covered several big stories at that time and got many awards for her works. Later in 2012, Sandra joined PBS Newshour and worked there for 4 years as a correspondent and special contributor.

Before joining CBS, she worked for 2 CBS affiliates namely KMOV-TV St. Louis, Missouri and WLKY-TV Louisville, Kentucky for 3 years respectively.

From 2017, she chose to be a University Instructor to teach journalism. However, Sandra has already made a lot of name and fame in journalism and bagged several awards including the prestigious Emmy nomination. Currently, as an Adjunct Instructor, Sandra is estimated to make $62,090 per year on an average.
