American broadcast journalist Soledad O'Brien, aged 51 and her husband have demonstrated themselves as good parents. They have not only provided daughters with quality education and values from a young age, but they also have founded an organization for the cause.

The New York native currently serves as a correspondent Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, a monthly sports newsmagazine on HBO. She also anchors a nationally syndicated weekly political show, Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien on Hearst Television.

Soledad was born as María de la Soledad Teresa O'Brien on 19 September 1966. Her parents are Edward Ephrem O'Brien, a mechanical engineering professor at SUNY Stony Brook, and Estela O'Brien, a French and English teacher at Smithtown High School West.

Both of her parents were immigrants, as her father was from Australia and her mother was from Cuba. She grew up in Australia along with five siblings, three sisters, and two brothers.

Her three sisters are Maria, a law professor, Cecilia, a corporate lawyer, and  Estela, an eye surgeon. Similarly, among her two brothers, Tony is a businessman, and Orestes, an anesthesiologist.

Soledad, who stands at a height of 1.65 meters (5 feet 5 inches) graduated with a Bachelor degree in English and American Literature from the Havard University in 2000.

Her Journalism Career: From NBC To HBO Via CNN

Soledad started her career in journalism from the NBC-affiliated WBZ-TV in 1991. During her time in NBC, she hosted news programmes such as Weekend Today and Today Show.

After NBC, she moved to CNN in 2003 and became co-anchor of the morning news program, American Morning until 2007. She worked as MSNBC correspondent From 1996 to 1997 she anchored MSNBC's  She also took the responsibility to host another show, Starting Point.

While serving as a CNN correspondent, she produced several documentaries such as Latino In America and the episodes of Black in America series.

Soledad has been associated with HBO as a correspondent in its sports newsmagazine show, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel since 2013.

Moreover, she also has a production and distribution company; Starfish Media Group founded in the same year as she joined HBO. The media company recently signed a deal to produce a series of hour-long documentary specials for the news channel, Al Jazeera America.

Soledad O'Brien Bags Another Award

It was on 31 November 2018 when the nationally recognized organization, Harlem United gave the Community Champion Award to Soledad. The Harlem United was hosting its 30th-anniversary gala at Columbia University's Low Memorial Library and many media stars were present on the event.

The event featured a performance by hip-hop fixture Doug E. Fresh as the organization honored former White House AIDS Advocate Douglas Brooks with a Community Impact Award. 

Soledad was awarded 'in recognition of her outstanding leadership and tireless efforts to empower our youth, and address social justice by bringing to the forefront narratives that affect underserved communities.'

The one to hand the award to Soledad was former Today show anchor and fellow award-winning journalist, Tamron Hall.  

As Megyn Kelly's departure from NBC could be announced any second, people have been wondering, to be exact, hoping that the network would provide the audience with more of Soledad's appearance each morning.

Soledad currently shares the marital relationship with the banker husband, Bradford Raymond. She got married at the age of 29 in 1995. Bradford currently serves as a co-head of investment banking at Stifel Financial Corporation.

Soledad is one of the lucky women who got the support of her husband every time she needs. She along with her husband started a foundation named PowHERful Foundation in July 2011.

While attending the 2017 Twin Cities PowHERful Summit in late 2017, she opened up about her husband's support in the social work. She stated that Bradford is not only the money behind PowHERful foundation but also a responsible father of their children.

Soledad O'Brien's Perfect Family With Four Children

Soledad shares four children with her husband. She has two daughters, Sofia Elizabeth, born in October 2000 and Cecilia, born in March 2002. Similarly, her family expanded by two after giving birth to twin sons, Charles and Jackson Raymond, born in August 2004.
