Alexis Maas is the fourth wife of famous television host and comedian Johnny Carson. While Carson's previous three marriages were fabled throughout the small screen, his marriage with Maas was a private affair. The couple wed secretly in 1987 and Maas even chose to stay away from the eyes of media later on. 

Maas and Carson's 18 years of happily married life broke down on the 23rd of January 2005 when Carson died. After the death of Carson, Maas is still living a secret life away from the media limelight; Her only media appearance being in the 2012 documentary based on Carson's life. 

Carson's Marriage To Alexis Maas Was The Last And The Strongest

Carson was in and out of relationships throughout his life, marrying four separate times. First, he got married in 1948 to Jody Wolcott and they had three sons. Carson divorced Wolcott in 1963, and within a month of the separation, he married second wife Jonnae Copeland. Copeland-Carson relationship ended in 1972. In that same year, he married his third wife Joanna Holland, to whom Carson got divorced after 11 years of marriage in 1983. 

After 4 years of unmarried life, Carson met Maas in 1987. The beautiful pair got married the same year in June in a quiet ceremony at Carson's Malibu beach home. Though Maas was twenty-six younger than Carson, their marriage was the most successful among Carson's marriages. They were in a marital relationship for nearly 18 years until Carson's death.

Maas Living A Secret Life Avoiding Media | Where Is She Now

Maas completely disappeared from the media after the death of her husband in 2005. However, in 2012, Alexis Maas was seen in a documentary movie made on her late husband, Johnny Carson: King of Late Night.

The documentary examined the life and career of Johnny Carson and included commentaries from his ex-wives and peers. The documentary also chronicled the romance and marriage between Maas and Carson but did reveal further about Maas. 

It is reported that Alexis Maas today is living at Beverly Ridge Estates in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California.

Maas Received Around $150 Million After The Death Of Her Husband

In 1999, Carson underwent quadruple-bypass surgery after he suffered a severe heart attack while he was sleeping in his Malibu California home. He was 74 at the time. Soon after, at age 79, Carson died of respiratory failure caused by emphysema.

During the time of his death, Johnny Carson’s net worth was $300 million. Carson announced that half of his net worth would be donated to his Johnny Carson Foundation.  The remaining $150 million was received by Maas.

Considered to be one of the most popular stars of American television, Carson was praised by several mainstream stand-up personalities like Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, and Jimmy Fallon. And while his personal life was mostly rocky, Alexis Maas was the foundation that helped him secure both his professional and personal legacy.
