Happily married with her husband for more than a decade now, American host Julie Suzanne Chen courted controversy after she was accused of misusing her husband's power. The claims, however, had little substance and Julie's husband knew which side he had to take. 

Julie Suzanne Chen, an American television personality, is widely known as the host of the CBS reality television program Big Brother's U.S. version, which is one of the longest-serving hosts of any country's version of the show. Not only that, but she is also a co-host, and the moderator of the CBS daytime show The Talk and the co-anchor of The Early Show.

Julie Chen Bio: Age, Parents, Education

Born on 6 January 1970 in New York City to Chinese immigrants parents, Julie considers herself as a true Chinese at heart.  However, it was her Chinese roots she had to forego to have a successful career in the showbiz.

She completed her earlier education from a junior high school in Queens and later attended the St. Francis Preparatory School for graduation. She also graduated from the University of Southern California in 1991 with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and English.

Julie in her earlier days interned at CBS Morning News alongside Andy Cohen. The following year she worked for ABC NewsOne as a desk assistant. Later she was promoted to be a producer for the next three years.

From the year 1995 to 1997 she worked as an anchor for WDTN- TV. Chen was also the anchor of CBS Morning News and This Morning starting from 1999 till 2002. She then worked as the co-host of The Early Show on CBS from 2002 to 2010.

It was in 2000 Julie landed her major gig, as the host of the Celebrity Big Brother.  In her first season, Chen was widely criticized for heavily scripted vocabulary during the interview as well as with the audience.

Julie Had Plastic Surgery

In an interview with Life and Style magazine in March 2018, Julie revealed that when she was working as a young reporter (age 25) in Ohio and had to undergo plastic surgery of her eye. Her news director once told Julie that she would never be a top news anchor if she did not change her appearance.

Having aspired to front up a camera since her early age, she did change her appearance through plastic surgery, but the mocking did not stop after the surgery as well. She revealed that after the surgery, she received constant comments like, "Way to give in to the Western standards of beauty," and "You're denying your heritage. You're trying to look less Asian."

However, the constant criticism only served up to fuel her to do well and shut all her critics when she landed one of the most coveted roles of anchoring the Big Brother at CBS.

And it was at CBS she met the love of her life, Les Moonves, the Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Network

Julie and Les started dating after his divorce with his first wife; Nancy Wiesenfeld Moonves was finalized in early 2004.  After dating for a short period, Julie tied the knots with her boss Les Moonves on 23rd December 2004.

She got married to Les Moonves in an intimate wedding with not more than 30 guests, composed of only close friends and family in their private home in Acapulco, Mexico.

They celebrated their wedding ceremony in a Chinese tradition, where she walked down the aisle with a coin in her shoe to invite prosperity.

Julie and her husband's happiness doubled five years later, i.e., after Julie got pregnant with her first child. She gave birth to her child, Charlie on 24 September 2009.

Accused Of Abusing Husband's Power, Husband Supports Her

The love and mutual affection present between the CBS couple was on full display in 2011 when Julie was the center of a power abuse accusations.

In 2011 when The Talk show's hosts Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete were notified that they would not be reprising their roles in the second season of the talk, rumors swirled of Julie's abusive behavior. 

A source close to the New York Post reported that Julie, one of the co-hosts of The Talk, was seen threatening the workers on the office saying:

My husband can fire your asses any day

Her husband declined to talk about his wife's comments at that time, but a few weeks later he provided emphatic support to his wife. Speaking to Newsweek, he had a mouth shutting reply. He said:

Anybody that knows my wife knows she would never say that

Not only did Les ended the dark clouds hovering above his wife, but he also provided a glimpse of the bond the couple enjoys and the level of trust present between the couples.

It has been a hard time for Julie Chen when her husband Leslie Moonves has been accused of sexual misconducts to his employees. The scandal took rather a big turn when Leslie resigned from the position of CEO of CBS Networks a few weeks ago.

Julie says that she wants to support her husband and sort things out. She said in an interview on 19 September to The People: 

Right now I need to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son

She has decided to stay on Big Brother but exit from the show The Talk.

The scandal could go bigger and things could be falling apart for Julie, yet she stands as a strong woman and even more, a stronger human being.
