Erica Mena was creating controversy after controversy--from beating up her son's father, dating a lesbian to breaking up a marriage. But she refused to give up on her dating life!

The American National is an infamous reality star who made a name for herself from VH1’s controversial hit franchise Love & Hip-Hop. She is famous for her fashion sense and her fashion line.

Her career began as a model when she appeared in various music videos of famous artists. Some of her appearances are in Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, and VH1 News Presents Hip-Hop Videos.

She has also written two books about her life, covering her difficult childhood and love life, and ending in single motherhood.

Erica Mena's Bio: Her Origin Story

Born on November 8, 1987, Erica was bred up in Bronx, New York by her parents and an elder sister. Her parents are of Puerto Rican and Dominican ethnicity.

Her father was a drug dealer who gave her family a hard time. Her mother was imprisoned because her father forced her to peddle drugs. It was during her time in prison she gave birth to Erica. Her father abused her until her mother was released from jail. By that time, Erica was already five years old.

Her elder sister ran the house in the absence of her mother and a toxic father and also raised Erica. However, she couldn’t save her from the deep traumas, which profoundly impacted her behaviors.

The impact’s effect started to show when she was once hired by Kourtney Kardashian to work as a sales associate in their newly developed Dash Miami Store, where she got fired because of her erratic behavior. Sadly, the behavior kept manifesting rather than fading away.

Co-Parenting With Baby Father Raul Conde

Erica’s first known boyfriend, rapper Raul Conde, ended up becoming her first baby’s father.  Erica was just 18 years old at that time. They dated for several years and welcomed their first born, a son named King, in 2007.

However, Raul turned out to be a bad influence as both a boyfriend and a baby father. So, she broke up with him and decided to raise the baby all by herself. Relating to her own experience of how a lousy father's presence affects a child, she was protective of her son and kept him away from her baby father.

Though the pair ended in bad terms- so much so that you can find a video where Erica’s kicking his ass- she has allowed Raul back in her life in recent times. Despite not seeing each other eye-to-eye, they do share a good relationship and co-parent their child, King.

Erica Is Not a Lesbian But Bisexual, Dating History

The best selling author, revealed another hidden aspect of her life, bringing another twist in her life after coming out as not gay but bisexual on 4 February 2015.

Erica sat down with Rollout where she opened up about her sexuality and explained that she wasn’t a lesbian because she preferred both sexes.

“People have misconceptions about everyone I’ve dated. Last year, it’s like “oh, all of sudden, she’s gay.” No, I’ve been bisexual. In the past, I’ve been very open and affectionate towards females. It’s definitely no secret. At that point, I was dating a woman and brought her on the show.”

The woman she was talking about was co-star from Love & Hip Hop; Cyn Santana. Cyn was her girlfriend both on and off the screen.

However, Cyn didn't think so. She labeled their relationship for what it meant to her, ‘a fake lesbian relationship.’

However, Cyn wasn’t the only girlfriend Erica had dated. Erica also had an affair with a DJ named Envy Package, who was married in 2013. But it turned out that Erica and Envy weren’t in a relationship; they were just sleeping with each other.

Erica was blamed after Envy’s marriage collapsed, and she responded by saying that she wasn’t the only girlfriend Envy had slept with.

Almost Married Twice, One Miscarriage

Before Cyn & Envy, Erica was in a relationship with music executive, Rich Dollaz. They both opened up about how there was a chance of marriage between them. Rich was hoping that she’d end up with him. Both of them were talking smack about each other which saw the pair break up.

Erica then started dating American rapper Shad Gregory Moss aka Bow Wow. They enjoyed the romance in secrecy with exceptions of sharing one or two Instagram posts about each other. But after their split, some pieces of information were spilled, not in excellent choices of words!

The couple first started dating when Erica Mena was guest-hosting on 106 & Park in early 2014.  For the next few months, they were seen together but did little to confirm that they were official entirely.

During the red carpet for the 2014 BET Hip-Hop Awards that fall, when an interviewer was trying to get it on record that they were in fact dating, Erica revealed an engagement instead. By March 2015, Bow Wow shared photos of his then wife-to-be in a wedding dress with the internet.

By September 2015, Erica had a heartbreaking miscarriage. She expressed her feelings through a poem,

“Speaking my mind has always helped me deal & heal. So I’m NEVER ashamed. Can you say the same?”

Sadly, Bow Wow couldn’t and labeled her as ‘attention seeking’ which saw the pair split in late 2015.

And since then, Erica has been continuing what she does best after a split. Talk smack about her ex. She even hinted in an interview that Bow had a small package.

Dating Boyfriend Cliff Dixon

The new year of 2018 brought a new boyfriend in Erica’s life. Her new babe was NBA star Kevin Durant’s adopted brother, Cliff Dixon. Erica confirmed their relationship by posting a sexy photo cuffed up with her beau on New Year's Day in 2018.

Four months later, she got dumped by Cliff, who called her a ‘hoe’ after he called off their relationship. Another twist! This time, Erica didn’t talk smack or called a relationship off blaming her boyfriend’s ‘erratic behaviors’ as she did with her past ones.

She shared this picture of herself and her beau together after their split. In the captions, she sang a hopeful song for their relationship,
“Baby, the ups and downs are worth it

Long way to go, but we're workin.”

Hopefully, this song doesn’t share the same tunes from her former relationships.
