Bristol Palin stunned reality TV viewers when she joined Teen Mom and then unexpectedly left after just one season. 

The Teen Mom OG star had been surrounded by controversy since announcing her pregnancy in September 2008. Although she joined the cast of MTV reality show for season 7 in 2018, she had been in the public eye even before that.

During her one year on the show, MTV viewers got a glimpse into Palin's crazy life as she raised her three kids — Tripp, Atlee, and Sailor.

The series also documented the breakdown of her marriage to her former partner, Dakota Meyer. The couple married in 2016 but separated in 2018 while she was on Teen Mom.

Palin only featured in 16 episodes of the series, but her brief appearance was enough to cement her place in the MTV franchise's history.

Why isn't Bristol Palin on 'Teen Mom?'

Palin’s departure from Teen Mom OG was not surprising, given that she had been an outspoken critic of the reality show.

She took to Instagram in April 2019 and addressed why she wouldn't be appearing on the MTV reality show again.

Sharing a picture of herself, Palin wrote, “Teen Mom OG wasn’t a fit for me, it took away my peace.” 

The reality television star explained her peace came at a cost only God could bear.

According to her, money didn’t impress her, and walking away from the series would allow God to rebuild her life and her little family on the right path. 

Palin continued she adored all the show's female leads and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavors. 

The mother of three first expressed her dissatisfaction with Teen Mom's presentation of her family to fans in December 2018. She stated in an Instagram post that MTV only wanted to highlight the messy side of her life and left out her faith and work ethic.

Both Palin and her ex-husband, Meyer were upset with the way things were depicted on the show, and they expressed their discontent on their respective social media accounts.

In the same month, Meyer took to Twitter and expressed his dissatisfaction that Teen Mom had turned into "trailer trash Real Housewives" rather than an authentic picture of struggling families.

Bristol Palin’s Career Before ‘Teen Mom’

The daughter of an Alaskan politician was no stranger to reality television. 

At just 17 years old, Palin became a well-known face when her mother, Governor Sarah Palin, ran for Vice President in 2008.

Palin even appeared on television shows like The Secret Life of the American Teenager. She finished third on Dancing With the Stars in 2010 and was seen in one episode of Celebrity Wife Swap in 2013.

She also featured in the docuseries titled Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp, produced by Associated Television International. It premiered on Lifetime TV in the United States on June 19, 2012.

The documentary chronicled her journey from Alaska to Los Angeles and back to Alaska, including two episodes set in Arizona and one episode in Washington, D.C.
