Vanessa Lachey has been with her husband, Nick Lachey, for more than a decade now. But she almost didn’t end up with him.

The actress had a crush on another actor right around the time she started going out with Nick. And if the news about her crush had reached her a day earlier, she might not have made it official with Nick.

Vanessa appeared on the LadyGang podcast on November 30, 2021, where she talked about a bunch of topics.

One of those topics was about her love life and how it could have been vastly different from right now.

The revelation came about when one of the hosts started a conversation regarding her days back on Total Request Live (TRL), a show she hosted from 2003 to 2007.

The actress then started talking about how she adored Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers.

But, the host put her in a seemingly difficult position when she asked who she would “fall in love” with if Nick Jonas did not exist. But, as it turns out, it wasn’t at all a hard question for her.

She gushed about how Reynolds was charming, funny, and self-deprecating. Then, she revealed how close she was to act on her crush.

"I'll never forget, I came into TRL [one day], and I told my hair and makeup girls, 'Nick and I made it official! We're boyfriend, girlfriend,' Vanessa said.

But the makeup girl had some bad news for her.

“Maybe this isn't the time I should tell you, Ryan Reynolds and Alanis called off their engagement,” said her makeup lady.

She jokingly said she wanted her to tell her that a day before and that she remembered the day “vividly,” but clarified that it wouldn’t have changed anything.

Just minutes before this revelation, she talked about how she and Reynolds always had something going on.

Vanessa met and started talking with Nick, her now-husband, right when the Deadpool star broke up with Alanis Morisette.

Married to Husband Nick Lachey for over a Decade

Vanessa started dating Nick in 2006 after his divorce from Jessica Simpson. They dated for about four years before getting engaged.

They announced their engagement in November 2010 and tied the knot on July 15, 2011.

The couple has three kids now — son Camden John (born - September 12, 2012), daughter Brooklyn Elizabeth (born - January 5, 2015), and son Phoenix Robert (born - December 24, 2018).

The TRL host recently revealed that quarantine had changed her life and marriage, putting a lot of stress on her.

But they found workarounds — Vanessa found her break while shooting a Christmas movie over the summer while Nick became a “stay-at-home superdad.”
