The summer of 2004 saw the release of the American comedy flick White Chicks starring Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans. The two actors portrayed two black FBI agents who go undercover using whiteface as women to solve a kidnapping case.

The film received middling reviews for its lowbrow humor and reliance on racial stereotypes. However, it managed to become a box office success. It grossed over $113 million against a $37 million budget.

Now, nearly two decades after the film's release, the creators are dropping hints about its sequel. And the news has filled the fans with excitement.

Terry Crews Informed the Sequel Was in the Works

A big chunk of information about the sequel to White Chicks came out when Terry Crews, who played the character of Latrell Spencer in the 2004 film, revealed the sequel was in the works.

During his appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in June 2019, the 53-year-old actor recalled his interaction with Shawn, the actor, and co-writer of the film, by saying,

...actually got with Shawn [Wayans] and he was like, ‘Man, we’re doing it, we’re getting it going.

Crews even joked that he was staying in shape to recreate his role in the movie legacy. "I've been working out for 15 years so I can do White Chicks 2, y’all," he added.

Marlon’s Reaction On Crews’ Statement

On July 3, 2019, Marlon, who wrote, produced, and starred in the film alongside his brother Shawn, took to Instagram to address the statement made by Crews in the stated interview.

The creator shared a snap of his character Tiffany Wilson, giving a shocking reaction.

He continued that, in the wake of Crews' comments, fans worldwide started to inquire if the news was true. But in reality, he and his team didn't have a deal in place. He informed the fans that the film wasn't still on the cards.

"How I wish this is true. I'd watch it in a heartbeat," a fan commented.

Another chimed, "Please just tell why you guys didn’t get any deal yet? This movie it’s really funny."

Right Time for ‘White Chicks 2’

With many fans excited about White Chicks 2, Marlon talked about the possibility of the sequel in an interview with Variety in August 2021. 

He shared that 2021 would be the perfect time to make White Chicks 2 since he thought people have tightened up so much that they need to loosen their ties a bit and have a good laugh.

"I don’t think Hollywood understands what a juggernaut White Chicks 2 would be," he added.

Marlon further said he and his brother had plenty of story ideas for a sequel while adding that the world situation had provided them with more ideas.

Is ‘White Chicks 2’ Confirmed?

As for the official announcement for White Chicks 2 is concerned, it still hasn't been done by the creators yet.

But there is a possibility of the film being made and getting a release date in the coming years, acknowledging Marlon's feeling about the film being the need of the hour.
