Following the release of the new Netflix rom-com, Love Hard, many fans have been curious about actor Darren Barnet's dating life. 

Barnet sat down with television host Rachel Lindsay from ExtraTV to talk candidly with his co-actors from Love Hard. 

Since the theme of the movie is about the main character being catfished on a dating app, the cast went on to share their personal experiences with being catfished.

The actor also cleared the air and talked about his relationship with his new girlfriend, who is also his co-actor in the film. 

Darren Barnet’s Real-Life Catfishing Story

Barnet shared the anecdote of being catfished by a woman a few years back.

While having lunch at a restaurant, his eyes met a young lady who was also hanging out at that place. Understandably, they kept the ball rolling and decided to meet to spend some time together and have dinner together. 

"When we sat down, the nice girl I met at lunch had completely gone away," he said. "She was bragging about how famous she was in Romania."

Things went downhill after that conversation and Barnet realized he had been catfished. He wasn't having a great time with his date and she even called the date "boring" in front of his face.

When he asked her if she wanted him to drop her at her place after the date, she denied his offer and went on "a truck full of four dudes".

Who Is Darren Barnet Dating?

The Never Have I Ever actor has been dating his co-actor from Love Hard, Mikaela Hoover.

The actress, 37, plays the character of Chelsea in the rom-com and has made appearances in movies like Holidate and Guardians of the Galaxy. 

Hoover landed her first on-screen role in 2006 and made her movie debut in Frank the following year. 

Hoover played the role of Camila in the recent Suicide Squad movie, which was based on the DC Comics under the same name. The movie stars Hollywood big names like Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto, Idris Elba, John Cena, among others. 

They Made Their Relationship Public Back in April

Barnet's girlfriend, Hoover, shared insight into their relationship for the first time back in April. She had posted a picture of her and her boyfriend on his 30th birthday. 

Her caption read: "You make me happy. Happy Birthday Angel."

The Never Have I Ever star shared the same photo as a birthday tribute for his girlfriend on her birthday on July 12. 

The couple made their red carpet debut as a couple at the premiere of The Suicide Squad in LA, a few months ago in August. 

The duo shared a kiss as they posed for the cameras in their designer outfits.
