The popularity of celebs who give birth after 40 can contribute to the misconception that it is simple to get pregnant later in life.

But it's not that easy; the difficulties come with postpartum depression, pregnancy struggle, IVF haze, and other issues related to conceiving and having children at a later age.

From Alanis Morissette to Marla Sokoloff, Julia Stiles to Danielle Fishel, here are seven Hollywood celebrities who became pregnant after 40. 

Marla Sokoloff

The Full House actress became pregnant with her third child at 41.

Sokoloff and her husband Alec Puro welcomed their youngest daughter, Harper Bea Puro, on February 6, 2022, after announcing her pregnancy in October 2021.

The couple has two older daughters, Olive Mae, 6, and Elliotte Anne, 10. The pair exchanged vows in Beverly Hills during a nighttime ceremony in November 2009. 

Julia Stiles

The Hustlers actress Julia Stiles and her husband, camera assistant Preston J. Cook welcomed their second child in January 2022.

The duo has been married since September 2017 and also share a son, Strummer Newcomb Cook, born in 2018.

Danielle Fishel

Danielle Fishel became a proud mother for the second time at the age of 40.

The Boy Meets World actress announced the birth of her second child, Keaton Joseph Karp, on August 29, 2022, via an Instagram post. She and her husband, Jensen Karp, had announced the pregnancy on her 40th birthday.

"I couldn't be more grateful to enter my 40's with my amazing husband and son, excitedly expecting the arrival of baby boy #2," she penned in an Instagram post in May 2021.

They are also parents to Adler Karp, born in June 2019.

Kristen Wiig

In June 2020, Kristen Wiig and her husband Avi Rothman became parents after the birth of their twins, Luna and Shiloh, through in vitro fertilization.

Two months later, in August, Kristen spoke up to InStyle about her experience with IVF, which began three years before they had their children.

"Emotionally, spiritually and medically, it was probably the most difficult time in my life. I wasn't myself," she shared with InStyle.

"There are so many emotions that go with it — you're always waiting by the phone and getting test results, and it was just bad news after bad news."

Jill Wagner

The couple has been in a marital relationship for over five years and is also parents to their first daughter, Army Gray, born in April 2020.

Lemanowicz is also the father of his other daughter Lija from his previous relationship. 

Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette was 45 years old when she gave birth to her third child on August 8, 2019. She revealed the news alongside a black-and-white image of the newborn resting on Instagram.

In her personal blog, the singer revealed she suffered from postpartum depression after giving birth to their third kid.

She wrote, "Hormonal. Sleep deprivation. Fogginess. Physical pain. Isolation. Anxiety. Cortisol. Recovery from childbirth (as beautiful and intense as mine was at home, dream birth.), integrating new angel baby with older angel babies. Marriage. All kinds of PTSD triggers."

Brigitte Nielsen

Brigitte Nielsen became a proud mom for the fifth time at the age of 54.

She told People that it made her feel "young" on the inside, but her motherhood for the fifth time was more challenging because of her advanced maternal age.

According to the actress, she began preparing for their future together by freezing her eggs at the age of 40, not long after meeting her fifth husband, Mattia Dessi.

Nielsen has four sons and one daughter from five different marriages.
