How did Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher's divorce rumors start in the first place?

According to a few tabloids such as Suggest, OK!, and Entertainment Times in December 2022, there was trouble brewing in paradise and some even suggested that they might be headed for a divorce.

Despite the former American Idol winner and her husband appearing happy in their public appearances, many sources stated they would not be surprised if news of their divorce made headlines.

On April 25, 2022, OK! magazine reported that Underwood’s marriage was far from perfect. A source shared that the couple’s marriage was plagued with jealousy and that the country singer put on a happy show for the cameras when a lot was happening behind the scenes.

The source also added that some problems were exposed during a chaotic date night.

“Everyone was praising and fawning over Carrie at the CMT’s (Country Music Television event), and Mike couldn’t seem to get a word in edge-wise. He felt like a spare part, and it really got to him,” said the source.

And another problem that the source touched on was jealousy.

The source claimed that Underwood’s career was soaring but affecting her marriage. “Mike has seen even less of Carrie. He goes crazy thinking about all the guys she’s closely working with, like Jason [Alden],” said the source of the couple.

Fisher was lonely and bored because of his wife’s busy schedule and would sometimes hit the bar and get drunk with his friends as a distraction.

The couple tried everything to make it work, from therapy to couples retreats, but nothing seemed to help.

Things got worse during the COVID lockdown when the I Didn't Love You singer got annoyed at Fisher over everything.

This claim coincided with the National Enquirer’s report (via Suggest) in September 2020. The tabloid reported that the country singer’s nitpicking habit affected her marriage with her husband.

A source told the outlet that Underwood and Fisher disagreed on raising their kids, and the former would also get frustrated if the latter did not leave the kitchen immaculate after making their kids’ meals.

They added Fisher was not used to having someone criticize his every move, which affected him and could lead to a divorce if Underwood did not change her ways.

Carrie Underwood’s Las Vegas Residency was also causing problems

And it appeared as if Underwood's time spent in her Las Vegas residency was another thing causing problems for the couple.

On July 3, 2022, Entertainment Times reported Fisher worried that Underwood’s shows would drive them apart.

According to the outlet, a source told the National Enquirer that Fisher was not thrilled knowing that Underwood would be away from home most nights, leaving him with their children.

“They’ve learned the hard way they can’t risk turning their backs on their marriage for even a day. That’s why Mike was fearing her going back on the road,” the source said.

The source added that the former ice hockey player had turned down offers to host the NFL because he did not want to be away from his wife and two kids. He was allegedly shocked to learn that Underwood accepted the offer to perform in Las Vegas.

So far, the couple has never openly discussed problems in their marriage, and only time will tell if the couple is indeed headed for divorce.

Despite issues, Underwood and her Husband's Relationship has remained strong

Of course, it was surprising for everyone when the tabloids reported that the pair might have been facing marital issues in late 2022. The stories that made the headlines were never to be heard before as the couple previously was known as a strong couple madly in love with one another.

Over the years, they were seen together attending public events, expressing their love for one another on social media, being there for one another in difficult times, and attempting everything to sustain their marriage despite ups and downs. He had also excellently helped her recover from a "freak accident" in 2017, nursing her with much-needed love and care.

In February 2018, a source close to US Weekly revealed the singer's desire for a big family with her loving husband. “Everyone around [Carrie] knows she wants a big family, and they’re always trying for another baby,” a source trevealed. “Carrie and Mike have a great life and a very strong marriage — one that their friends envy. They are completely committed to each other and in it for the long run.”

The pair also felt super blessed to welcome their second child Jacob. But the journey before that was troublesome. She suffered 3 miscarriages in the span of two years prior to the birth of Jacob.

She would later open up about the miscarriages to CBS Sunday Morning in September 2018. “I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s OK, because [Isaiah] is amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No.”

In 2020, the pair celebrated their 10th marriage anniversary for which Underwood expressed her gratitude to Fisher for providing her with a “happily ever after.”

And with such history, the pair's only relationship woes reportedly existed because of Carrie's illustrious career.  “The tables have turned,” one source reportedly told RaderOnline. “She used to be paranoid about him when he was playing ice hockey and traveling around with the team with all those groupies hanging around. Now he’s paranoid about her being so many miles away. It’s not the happy home they make it out to be. Mike’s feeling a little under-appreciated. Carrie does tend to be self-involved, so it’s up to her to make him feel cherished.”

The source also revealed that the singer had promised her husband to give her more family time, but things were not working out.

Fast forward to now, the pair are still working on their relationship with the utmost support of her extrovert husband Fisher. He is someone who has been encouraging her to be more social and put in the effort to spend more time with him, their family, and friends. And when she turned 40 in March 2023, the pair also planned to spend quality time at their Tennesse's 400-acre family home.

"I'm like, 'We don't need to go out all the time,' so I pull him back a little bit. And then he's like, 'We need to go somewhere sometimes. Can we please interact with other people?'" she shared to Today's Country Radio With Kelleigh Bannen on Apple Music Country.

Indeed, the pair's relationship has survived because they respect and listen to one another despite the ups and downs in life. In terms of finances, the couple shares a $170 million net worth in total, according to Celebritynetworth. Underwood alone is estimated to be worth around $130 million.
