From successfully battling cancer to leaving her emotionally abusive ex-husband, American Reality star, Jessica Parido was at the top the world. However, all started going downhill for her when she began dating a boyfriend with a troubled past.

The 29-year-old California native first hit the limelight as a cast member of the Bravo Series Shahs of Sunset -- a reality show about Persian-Americans living in Los Angeles. Her 412k followers on Instagram is a testament to her status as a socialite and an influencer.

Born on 12 December 1988 in Orange County, California, Jessica was raised in an affluent family. Because of her dad’s Italian heritage, she identifies herself as a mixed racial. Online reports suggest that her dad’s a wealthy businessman.

Jessica, age 29, has a younger sister, Kristina Parido. To say that Jessica owes her life her sister would be to undermine the latter’s contribution in helping cure the former’s leukemia--a group of cancers that usually begin in the bone marrow and result in high numbers of abnormal white blood cells.

“I literally owe my life to her,” Jessica spoke of her sister in a 2015 People magazine interview.

The then 14-year-old Jessica was slated to star in her high school play but later pulled out after suffering from fits of weakness and tiredness. Soon her world would come crashing down to the earth after her dad revealed that she had been diagnosed with leukemia.

Doctors advised her family members to test for bone marrow transplant but prefaced it by saying that there would only be a 10 percent chance of beating cancer. Luckily for her, her doctors deemed then 12-year old Kristina a match. Post surgery, she was placed in an isolation room for eight months.

Jessica, now 29, is still in remission. Eventually, her time battling cancer would inspire her to pursue a career in nursing.
