The versatile actor was born as Thomas J. Pelphrey to an American family on 28 July 1972 in Howell, New Jersey. His parents are Laurie Pelphrey, Richard Pelphrey and he also has a brother named Robert Pelphrey in the family.

At the age of 18, he completed his high school education at Howell High School in 2000. Later, he got graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rutgers University in 2004.

Started Acting Career At Age 25

Unlike many famed actors who start their acting career at an early age, Tom was a latecomer to the acting scene. He began his acting career at the age of 25 portraying the character of Douche Bag Dave on a series, The Burg in 2007. Afterward, he was cast on a 2008 comedy-drama movie, Birds of America.

His role as David on a thriller movie, Junction yield an Award for Best Ensemble Cast at ReelHeart International Film Festival in 2012. Some of his notable on-screen work includes, As the World Turns (2009), Banshee (2015) and Chicago P.D (2017).

Apart from acting, Tom also lent his voice for the character as Connor J. Morgan on a 2011 video game, Homefront. Tom has also demonstrated his acting skill in various theatres.

Tom performed in Kevin Mandel's A New Television Arrives Finally portraying the title character as television at Theatre 54 in New York in September 2007. He was cast in In God's Hat, portraying the character of Roy performed at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater in New York City in August 2010.

In 2012, he appeared in the Broadway cast of the musical drama End of the Rainbow landing the role as Mickey Deans. The drama focuses on the late American actress Judy Garland in the months leading up to her death in 1969.

After three years, he returned to Broadway playing Martin in a revival of Fool for Love, written by American playwright and actor Sam Shepard in 2015.

Tom, aged 36 has numerous high profile girlfriends in his dating list. The hunky actor has a penchant for dating co-stars and his dating list is full of colleagues. 

He was in a relationship with actress Gina Togoni, who was his co-star on the Guiding Light series. The couple started dating around Valentine’s Day in 2005 and their romance provided fodder for various gossip sites at the time.

However, they separated later and his now ex-girlfriend Gina is now married to Joseph Chiarello.

He was then linked with another co-star, Stephanie Gatschet, also a co-star for Guiding Light during his time in the series.

Later, Tom started dating his Banshee co-actor Lili Simmons. Their romance was a highlight in gossip magazines and also was littered around the walls of their social media sites.

The couple professed their relationship to the wider public after making red carpet debut as a couple attending the Entertainment Weekly and People Upfronts in New York City on 14 May 2018.

However, in a heartfelt Instagram post in July 2018, he shared a picture of his dog Sasha who unfortunatly passed as a result of cancer. He expressed his sadness and his difficulty in losing something so important to his life. He had rescued Sasha a few months after his dad had passed away in the year 2009. Sasha was his escape from the harsh reality of life.
