On January 19, 2021, Fox News laid off its 16 members, including the American journalist Chris Stirewalt. He had joined the channel in July 2010 as a digital political editor.

The lay-off that took place right after the 2020 election cycle eliminated senior editors and even staff who had been at the company for over a decade. Fox News reasoned the action, citing it had realigned its business and reporting structure to meet the new trend after the 2020 election cycle.

However, many fans and even insiders weren't happy about the reported "purge." One of the departed employees stated that the termination was a "concerted effort to get rid of real journalists." The person added, "They laid capable people off who were actual journalists and not blind followers."

Stirewalt's elimination coincided with his defending the channel's visionary revelation that Biden would win Arizona.

The early calls had raised eyebrows and even angered Donald Trump. But Stirewalt defended calling Arizona for Joe Biden through an op-ed published on the Los Angeles Times on January 28, 2021. Revealing his departure from the media giant, he wrote:

I wanted to steam downriver as fast as I could to be first with the news to beat the competition and serve my audience. That’s why I was proud of our being first to project that Joe Biden would win Arizona, and very happy to defend that call in the face of a public backlash egged on by former President Trump.

Joined American Enterprise Institute After Fox News Departure

After departing from his decade-long service in Fox News, Stirewalt joined the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) as a resident fellow in April 2021.

With his area of expertise being politics, he will focus on American politics, public opinion, voting and political trends, and the media as a team member of the Politics and Public Opinion.

Is Chris Stirewalt Married?

Born on November 17, 1975, Stirewalt is over 40 now. But despite his ascending age, he has never been vocal about his love life, precisely his dating relationships.

Therefore, it is not sure if the former Fox News anchor has a wife or a girlfriend or is relishing his singlehood.

The closest thing that has ever surfaced about his relationship was the question if he was married to Dana Perino. But the duo — who anchored around 100 episodes of the show, I’ll Tell You What — was far from being husband and wife; they were and are just friends.

The Fox News commentator is married to her husband of 20 years, Peter McMahon.
