Sasheer Zamata is an actress and comedian who started her career with theater and YouTube in the early 2000s. To date, she has worked on over 60 projects, including movies, series, standup shows, and Saturday Night Live (SNL).

Zamata is an open book. She is very upfront about her likes and dislikes and what she wants in her life. Her situation with her love life is no different.

Sasheer Zamata on Relationships

As of today, it is not sure if the comedian is in a relationship or not. She has given hints here and there, but no official statement has been made yet. However, in an interview with The Undefeated on May 3, 2019, Zamata said she doesn’t hesitate to say ‘No’ anymore.

She clarified she used to say 'Yes' to every opportunity but does not anymore. Instead, she is “more selective and focused” on her desires and how she wants to portray herself to the world.

While Zamata did not explicitly say that this was her take on relationships, it can be presumed that she has a similar mentality towards it.

She also does not like the idea of dating apps and womanizers. The 35-year-old gave her opinion to Interview Magazine on September 15, 2020, saying she would not opt for both of them. However, not that she has never used dating apps at all.

Years ago, she tried an app called OkCupid but logged off as soon as she recognized a few people from the comedy world. Zamata has a traditional take on meeting someone new. She wants to meet and get to know them in person.

Regardless of her preference, she agrees that dating apps are popular nowadays and hopes the people who use them “get a lot out of it.” Similarly, she is not into womanizers and believes that they take up her space, time, and energy.

A couple of times during her standup routine, the comedian has mentioned having a boyfriend. In November 2014, she said she was dating a Caucasian man and joked about marking everything he owned with her “brown makeup.”

Similarly, in August 2020, she said that she had just celebrated a second anniversary with her boyfriend but had a love-hate relationship with him.

Zamata feels like she is fixing him since, according to her, “everything he does is wrong.” Nonetheless, she confessed her love for him. She has, however, not revealed his identity to date.

Sasheer Zamata's Career

Zamata started her career performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre while doing sketches impersonating various celebrities like Rihanna, Tyra Banks, Beyonce, and Nicki Minaj on her YouTube channel.

The actress got her big break in 2014 when she joined SNL in its 39th season. She was the fifth black female cast in the show ever since its premiere in 1975.

Similar to her YouTube channel, the actress did many impressions and sketches on SNL. But, sadly, she left the show in 2017 after the finale of its 42nd season.

The show opened a lot of doors for her. She has her own standup specials, started a podcast called Best Friends with her best friend Nicole Byer, and starred in dozens of movies and TV shows.

Her notable projects include Home Economics, Woke, Robbie, and The Mitchells vs. the Machines

Zamata plays the role of a lesbian on Home Economics and Woke. She is a powerful advocate for queer representation on screen and believes that in the upcoming future, it would rise exponentially.
