Jessica Simpson was Once In An Emotional Relationship with Johnny Knoxville
Jessica Simpson opened up about her past relationship with former costar Johnny Knoxville in her memoir Open Book.
In the 2020 publication, the singer revealed she formed a deep bonding with Knoxville while filming for the 2005's comedy flick The Dukes of Hazzard.

Simpson, in her book, admittedly said she had an "emotional affair" with the actor while still married to singer Nick Lachey.
But at the same time, she denied her involvement in any physical affair with Knoxville.
In one of the paragraphs, the author wrote how she shared her deepest authentic thoughts with Knoxville without being hesitant.
And the Jackass actor, in return, would "actually" like her smartness while embracing her vulnerabilities.
"He believed in me and made me feel I could do anything," claimed Simpson.

According to the songstress, she "felt a force" drawing them together, making her wonder why she was open to the relationship.
In addition, Simpson also expressed her insecurities, saying she was afraid to trust herself.
While Simpson was admittedly never physically intimate with Knoxville, her emotional attachment with him felt like "betrayal," she wrote in her confessional.
"First of all, we were both married, and this wasn't going to get physical," Simpson wrote, saying her emotional affair was worse than a physical relationship.
In her concluding line, the singer attempted to justify her claim saying, "Johnny [Knoxville] and I had that, which seemed far more of a betrayal to my marriage than sex."

Simpson separated from Lachey in 2005 following a divorce which ended her relationship spanning a decade. The marriage was legally dissolved in 2006.
Singer Simpson dated her first husband for seven years before getting married to him in 2002.
During her appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, Simpson shared how there was one thing she would have done differently regarding her split with Lachey.
She wished she would have signed a prenup, which the pop star felt offended about when her ex-spouse first proposed the idea.

"The funny thing is Nick [Lachey] wanted me to sign a prenup, but I was so offended," shared Simpson, further stating how she originally dreamt of spending the rest of her life with Lachey.
"We were saying our vows to God and in front of all our family and friends. This is never going to end," Simpson said in her recollection mentioning why she refrained from signing a pre-nuptial agreement.
Likewise, during his 2020's appearance on the Today show, Lachey opened up about his married life with Simpson and discussed his former wife's memoir.
"I'll be honest, I obviously haven't read the book, so I don't know what she said or what she revealed there," said the 98 degrees entertainer while sited alongside his wife, Vanessa Lachey.
He continued saying, "I am happy for her and her life, I know she is happy for us."
Lachey stressed how the two still shared mutual respect between themselves.
Additionally, he addressed his relationship with Simpson was a long time ago, and the former pair have moved on with their lives.
