Sheba Turk is an American journalist, speaker, and author. She is most widely known as the weekday morning anchor and reporter for WWL-TV’s (CBS tv station based in New Orleans) Eyewitness Morning News.

She was a former host for the show The 504 which came to an end earlier in 2018. Besides being a journalist, she is also an author who penned the book Off Air: My Journey To The Anchor Desk (2018).

Sheba Turk Dropped Out Of NYU Due To Financial Reasons

Born in 1990 at New Orleans Sheba Turk graced into the world as the daughter to parents John (an Amtrak employee) and Sharon. She also has a brother and belongs to an African-American Ethnicity.

Regarding her education, she attended St. Mary's Dominican High School where she largely involved in musical theaters. After completing school, she attended NYU studying creative writing but dropped out due to financial reasons.

But more good things were on the way to Sheba. After dropping out from NYU, she joined the Inside The Newsroom classes taken by former NBC News executive producer named Kim Bondy. She had a very good rapport with Kim Bondy who introduced Sheba to her scholarship provider Soledad O’Brien.

She received a scholarship from Soledad O’Brien’s Powherful Foundation and graduated from the University of New Orleans. She also got an opportunity to intern at CNN between her junior and senior year.

Her love for writing led her to choose journalism as her career. And soon after her graduation in 2011, she was hired at WWL as an associate producer for the morning news.

Over the years at her time in WWL she got promoted four times from the position of an associate producer to traffic reporter to field reporter to anchor. She also got to host one of her own former entertainment and lifestyle show The 504 which is named after the New Orlean’s area code.

As a news anchor and reporter at WWL, she earns an average estimated salary of  $67,927.
