Described as frequent-flier, amateur photographer, guacamole addict, and triathlete, Jacob Rascon is an American journalist who is best known as the reporter for Houston-based NBC associate KPRC-TV.

Previously he served as a reporter for KFOX, a Dallas-based correspondent for NBC, and a reporter for LA-based KNBC.

A Taxi Driver Inspired Jacob Rascon To Become Journalist

After high school, Jacob moved to Uruguay for two years. On his way back home, he came across a taxi driver who drove him to an unexplored passion—journalism.

He asked the taxi driver what he'd do if he could move to the states and start over. The driver replied, "I'd be a journalist."

Hence, the taxi driver's passion inspired him to be the journalist that he is today. After returning from Uruguay, he continued his education at Bright Young University in Idaho and Provo.

Jacob Rascon's Salary Reveal As NBC Journalist

Jacob started off his career in journalism as a reporter at the Fox affiliate KFOX (Channel 14) in El Paso and NBC-owned KNBC in Los Angeles.

At KNBC, he covered almost all of the high-profile local stories in his time, which included the infamous LAX shooting, the manhunt for the ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner, and Southern California wildfires and earthquakes.

Jacob's career rose to new heights when he joined NBC News in 2014. He was assigned as an NBC News Correspondent. His reports were broadcasted on NBC Nightly News, Today, and NBCNews.com.
