American news reporter Mary Bruce had been rejoicing a married life with her husband of more than four years. After revealing exciting news that the family had a new member coming soon to the fold, the married couple's relationship has entered a new chapter. She took three months maternity leave after conceiving their daughter.

Washington native Mary is the Congressional correspondent for ABC News based in Washington D.C. Her recent work can be seen on Good Morning America, World News Tonight and 20/20. She also regularly appears on ABC's news live digital program The Briefing Room providing the play by play rundown of the topics discussed from the White House.

Most of the days, she can be seen in the hallways of the capital, conducting news-making interviews with lawmakers and breaking down the day’s top stories.

Mary Bruce's Bio: From Print Journalist To ABC News Correspondent

Before her career at ABC News, Mary was a print journalist covering health care policy. She spent five years covering the White House as a producer and digital journalist reporting on President Obama’s re-election campaign. 

Mary also produced a segment for This Week with George Stephanopoulos that helped in interviewing the 2008's presidential candidates and working on the ABC presidential debates. She joined ABC News in 2006 as a desk assistant.

She was announced as the Congressional correspondent for ABC News on 3rd November 2015. She celebrated the news on Twitter with her fans as she mentioned her 'work husband' Devin Dwyer who was announced as the Contributing Correspondent and Coordinating Producer.

Mary, born in the 1980s, has spent her whole life in Washington DC except for her life away at the University. She attended the Washington University in St. Louis and received a degree in history and Spanish.

Mary and her husband Duane, who have been together for more than three years, began a new chapter in their relationship after becoming parents. They welcomed their first baby on the 24 June 2018. 

The married pair, who coyly announced their pregnancy when she was one month due, shared an adorable picture of their baby on her Instagram account.

Moreover, Mary took a moment out from her new busy motherhood duties and posted a series of pictures of herself with her son and thanked everyone including her ABC family, her family and friends, her husband and her well-wishers for being a part of her journey towards motherhood. Adding, she mentioned that she was very grateful for having a beautiful baby, an on-going career and a loving husband in her life.

After making all of her fans wait for five months, in November of 2018, Mary announced the named of her baby boy as Elvis. It seems like the baby was named after the famous singer named Elvis Presley as she posted a picture of her son, dressed up as the iconic singer Elvis.

The DC-based journalist revealed that she was pregnant as she shared a picture of her baby bump in an Instagram post on 25th April 2018. She had been very open regarding her pregnancy in the social media. She and her husband, along with their families, had been very excited to welcome the new family member.

On Maternity Leave Till September At ABC News

For someone who is so dedicated to her work and mostly spends her days in the hallway of the capital, Mary's absence has been duly noticed, and she has been missed by her viewers. 

Mary announced her maternity leave until September, to take good care of her son. She will want to spend as much time with her little angel. 

The length of her maternity leave seems to be about three months. Concerning paid leave, there are different governing bodies with different laws, so it is quite unsure whether she is in a paid or an unpaid leave. However, these three months will be very crucial for her and her daughter's health and bonding. 

According to researches, women who take their due vacation return to work with less stress, maintain a balance between their work and parenting responsibilities, which has shown to strengthen their immune systems and interact appropriately with their psychological state.

And it's likely that the news reporter wants the same result in her life as well.

Besides work and her mother duties, Mary and her husband still managed to take time out for themselves and go out for dinner date.
