Taft was born Jennifer Lind Taft on September 5, 1987, in Edina, Minnesota.
The 33-years-old grew up in a family of athletes. Her mother, Mary, competed as a speed skater during her teenage, and her father, John, played hockey as a professional player.
John was a two-time national champion during his stints at the University of Wisconsin. In 1976, he captained the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team and played in the National Hockey League for six leagues.
Taft also has a brother, Char Taft.
She received her primary education from Edina High School in 2006. Then, she got her Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University in 2010.

Played Lacrosse In High School And University
Taft became a sports fanatic from an early age, probably influenced by her athletic parents. As a result, the Fox Sports 1 reporter took part in various sports, including hockey, tennis, and lacrosse, while growing up.
Precisely, she chose Lacrosse and became a member of her high school lacrosse team. In 2005, she earned the NSLA Player of the Year title as a top female lacrosse player in Minnesota.
Continuing the game, Taft joined the Lacrosse team at Boston University and represented the University's team, Terriers.
She appeared in 26 games, achieved eight goals, and four assists while being a part of the Terriers. She was also engaged on the 2006 MSHSL AII-State Team and 2005 MSHSL/NSLA AII-Star Team.
Between 2008 and 2009, she played numerous matches and scored seven goals and three assists for the same team. But after her graduation, she left her playing career and started a new journey.

After graduating with a degree in Journalism from Boston University, Taft didn't take a long time to start her career as a broadcaster. She soon joined IDPR in New York City for Public Relations.
But later, she moved back to her hometown, where she worked more efficiently as a FOX Sports girl for the FOX channel. She worked as a sports reporter and on-air host for Fox Sports North for three years between 2011 and 2013. She also served as an in-arena host for Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Wild.
After that, she landed as an update anchor at Fox Sports 1. The Minnesota native reported anything related to soccer and college football and debuted as a track reporter for a 2013 Supercross event.

Finally, she was promoted to the role of college football reporter in 2017. A year after that, she became a moderator for the American sports talk show SKIP & SHANNON: UNDISPUTED, in July 2018.
In August 2018, Fox Sports 1 launched a new weekly college football show with Taft as the host.
The show named CFB: Inside Slant included exclusive interviews and features related to US college football. The 30-minute show provides in-depth in-sights at sport's most significant updates and top stories while also taking viewers beyond the football field for once.
Besides her inspiring career, Taft's biggest accolade covered the U.S. Women’s National Team's news during The Caribbean Association Football, Women’s Championship, The Confederation of North and Central American.

Taft's husband, Matt Gilroy, who stands at the height of 6 feet 1 inch (1.88m), is a professional ice hockey player.
He is currently applying his trades in KHL, playing for the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers. He had previously played for the Moscow-based ice-hockey outfits Atlant Moscow Oblast and Spartak Moscow. Matt Gilroy was enlisted into the U.S. hockey team that represented the U.S.A. in the Olympics.
