Everything You Need to Know about Ahsoka Tano’s Death on ‘The Clone Wars’ Season 7
Spoiler Warning: Plot details for The Clone Wars Follow.
Ahsoka Tano is one of the most appreciated female characters in the Star Wars franchise.
Voiced by American actress Ashley Eckstein, she was first introduced as a lead figure through the animated series The Clone Wars in 2008.
Tano is a Togruta female, a sentient species from the planet Shilli, in the Star Wars universe.
Jedi Master Plo Koon first brought her to train in the Jedi Temple. After the outbreak of the clone war, Jedi Grand Master Yoda assigned her to be the Padawan of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, who later became Darth Vader.
Faked Her Death in 'The Clone Wars' Season 7
The Clone Wars chronicled the development of Tano from a young teenager to a rogue former Jedi.
She grew up becoming a solid apprentice of Skywalker and a true Jedi, winning the battle of Christophsis, Ryloth, and Mon Cala, among others.
Over time, she befriended clone captain Rex of the 501st Legion and collaborated with him to lead frontline campaigns against the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
During a battle on Mortis, she faced her first death. But a force wielder, also known as the Daughter, sacrificed herself to resurrect Tano back to life.
With support from friends and firm determination, she ended all confederacies.
However, she got framed for bombing the Jedi Temple hangar and killing her soldiers. As a result, Tano was captured by the Republic Forces and was excluded from the Jedi Order.
Thanks to her master, her charges were dropped. Skywalker proved that the real miscreant was fellow Padawan Barriss Offee.
But till then, the damage was already done. Tano refused to join the Order. She departed in search of a new path, unintentionally hurting Skywalker and making him resent the Jedi Hugh Council.
Later, she briefly returned to the lead Republic forces with Lady Bo-Katan Kryze and captured the fallen Sith Lord Darth Maul during the Siege of Mandalore.
In a stark turn of events, Order 66 got implemented, announcing the purge of all Jedis, who were conspicuous enemies to the uprising Sidious' Empire.
Tano couldn't help but free her old friend Rex, programmed to kill her, from the control of Order 66. After he gained consciousness, the duo escaped the 501st division with a distraction created by Maul.
They successfully landed their spacecraft on an unnamed moon where the ship with the division members had crashed.
As shown in the last episode of season 7 of The Clone Wars, aired on Disney+, she and Commander Rex buried their friends and paid their tribute.
After reflecting on her past, Tano left her lightsaber on the land to mark her death, hoping to relay the message that she was killed in the Jedi purge.
Survived a Near-Death Battle in 'Star Wars Rebels'
After The Clone Wars series ended, Tano returned to the next animated series Star Wars Rebels, disguising herself through the moniker Fulcrum.
In the finale of season 2, 'Twilight of the Apprentice,' she confronted her old master, Skywalker, who had turned into Darth Vader.
After an epic fight, she locked herself and Skywalker in an exploding Sith Temple. While everyone believed she had died in the altercation, she was pulled into safety by a future Ezra Bridger, who used a portal connecting all time and space.
She was depicted to be in search of Bridger in the series's epilogue.
Is Ahsoka Tano Dead or Alive?
The Rise of Skywalker, a 2019's Star Wars movie, hints at Tano's death.
In the film, when Rey battles Emperor Palpatine, she is encouraged by the dead Jedi heroes, including the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin, and Qui-Gon Jinn.
The surprising addition to the list was Ahsoka Tano, the only person whose death hasn't been shown in the Star Wars universe. The mention of her name in the list of dead Jedis suggested she passed away before the rise of Skywalker.
However, her death hasn't been confirmed yet; instead, it is blanketed in confusion. Thanks to a tweet from the show's executive director, Dave Filoni.
On December 25, 2019, he posted an illustration featuring Tano and Gandalf the Grey from Lord of the Rings and hinted that Tano could be alive.
Was thinking of all of you this fine morning, Happy Holidays!

If she is alive, Tano would be in her 70s in Rey's era, which is pretty possible for a Togruta whose average life span ranges from 80 to 95 years.
Let's not forget, if she is already a Force-using Togruta, she can live up to 200 years.
