Sonya Curry was born on May 30, 1966, in Virginia, U.S. 

She belongs to the mixed ethnicity because her parents hailed from different ancestry; her father, Cleive Ester Adams was an African immigrant while her mother, Candy Adams is a Haitian. Curry, aged 52, grew up in Virginia alongside her siblings; a brother named Cleive Adams and a sister named India Adams.

Sonya Played Volleyball Despite Being Of Average Height

She attended her hometown school, Radford High School in Virginia and later majored in elementary education at Virginia Tech. During her college years, she was a volleyball and basketball player at Virginia Tech. Despite being of average height, 5 feet 6 inches she was good at both sports and won state championships in both disciplines. 

Upon graduating, she had a job of school administrator where she continued to use her experience to inspire and give back to her community.

There have been numerous instances of love at the sports field and Sonya is one of them. She is married to former professional NBA player Dell Curry with them being together since 1988.

The couple first met each other at Virginia Tech in the 1980s, where her husband Dell was a standout for the Hokie's basketball team, and Sonya was a volleyball star.

It was Dell who first fell in love with her and summoned up the courage to ask her out after one of his matches.

One became two and two quickly became three, as the couple frequented their dating sequences, and brought them closer. And after almost eight years of dating, the couple finally settled down for good by getting married. And 1988 was a fruitful year for the couple in every sense.

After getting married, Sonya's husband was selected by the Charlotte Hornets in NBA expansion draft the same year.

The couple had to move to North Carolina. After moving to North Carolina following Dell's professional career, the couple thought that time was right to start a family together.

And the year was still 1988 when the two brought home their first baby Stephen Curry, someone who would go on to become one of the best players in NBA. After Steph, they also brought two other children to their family, a son Seth and a daughter; Sydle Curry.

Stephen and Seth have followed their father and are established NBA players, while Sydle has followed on her mother's path and is a volleyball player. As of now, the happy family is living a luxurious life courtesy of their popularity.
