The prominent host was born Shawna Elizabeth Killinger on November 2, 1972, in Detroit, Michigan.

She moved to Mexico City with her parents at the age of 11 and attended International American School Foundation, where she pursued her primary education.

Killinger, who stands at the height of 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 meters), earned her graduate degree in Marketing from Penn State University in 1995.

Her brother, David Killinger Jr., is a Finance Director at Nissan Motor Corporation.

Killinger's father, David R. Killinger Sr., had been fighting pancreatic cancer for a long time. He succumbed to cancer on May 2, 2020.

Killinger is married to a consultant husband, Joseph Carretta, mostly known as Joe Carretta. Joseph is the director of General Services Operations at Erickson Living.

The pair began their relationship after meeting via a dating site, eHarmony. And after Joe proposed to her on her birthday, they tied the knot on April 13, 2013.

Killinger currently lives outside Philadelphia with her husband and her only daughter. 

She Adopted a Daughter with Husband 

The television host went through a miscarriage in 2014. She was five months pregnant with a female child. She revealed her miscarriage to her QVC fans through a blog in December 2014.

Three years after, she and her husband opted for adoption. They adopted an infant baby girl born on June 9, 2017, and named her Jagger Jude.

Joined QVC as a Program Host in 2007

Killinger started her career as a set assistant on CBS News in 1995 and became a production assistant on CBS's show, Foreign Desk.

She worked as an anchor and reporter for WRGB-TV and WKMG-TV until 2005.

In 2006, the QVC host started working as a cast member on Martha Stewart's version of Apprentice, where she was the third member to be fired. She later joined Stewart in promoting the apparel line on QVC.
