American reality star Kate Chastain's life revolves around the sea and the deck, so much so that she found love while exploring the vast blue.

The Florida-native is best known for her role as the Chief Stewardess in Bravo reality show, Below Deck.

Chastain first made an apperance in the second season of Below Deck in 2014 alongside yacht’s chef Benjamin Robinson.

Kate Chastain was born on January 2, 1983, in the state of Sacramento, California. 

The reality star is the daughter to her rockstar musician father Michael Monastery and mother Jerri Renee Hastey. She has four siblings: two sisters and two brothers.

Chastain was raised in a middle-class family. She was a student at El Camino Fundamental High School in Sacramento, but she did not graduate. 

After dropping out of high school, Chastain turned yachting into a career. She first started out as a laundry stewardess in 2007 at the age of 24.

The yachting industry helped Chastain find her passion, and since 2007, she has been actively working at the sea.

Her passion and hard work not only landed her a promotion from laundry stewardess to chief stewardess, but also gave her an opportunity to be a part of Below Deck.

After joining the show in 2014, Below Deck became a huge part of her life, and also the reason behind her stardom.

That is also where Chastain met her ex-boyfriend, Benjamin Robinson.

Chastain and Robinson first met in the second season of Below Deck when the two joined the show as chef and chief steward.

Although their on-screen relationship was choppy, they hit it off pretty well off-screen.

But the romance was short-lived. Things got awkward between them on the show after the break-up.

So much so that Robinson took a break from the show because of the bad blood between him and Chastain.

After breaking up with Robinsion, Chastain found love again.

What was more interesting was the fact that she found it with Below Deck's Rocio Hernandez.

The surprising turn of events led fans to believe Chastain was a lesbian.

Hernandez, popularly known as Ro, and Chastain continued their romance even after the show ended.

The couple was happy together, and never shied away from making it known to the public. Describing their romantic union Kate said in 2016,

She's amazing. I never, ever imagined myself dating a girl. I never was attracted to girls. So I'm a little caught off guard, but she's just a really special person.

The duo moved in together in March 2016. Chastain went public with her romance with a photo of herself kissing her girlfriend.

In the caption, Chastain revealed she was not gay or lesbian but she had a girlfriend.

Although they started strong, Chastain and Hernandez's relationship ended within a month of dating.

Chastain and Hernandez's relationship ended in a bad way.  

Chastain and Hernandez broke up in June 2016 after Chastain was charged with battery by strangulation and domestic violence by Melbourne Beach officers.

Hernandez told the police that Chastain bit her in different parts of her body and even tried to strangle her.

The shocking part was that it was not the first time the incident had happened. Chastain had been violent with her girlfriend in the past, too. 

She was later released after posting a $5,000 bond in court.

In June 2016, after being released by the authorities, Chastain sent out a tweet to thank to her fans and said she was looking forward to spending a peaceful life.

A year after being released from prison, she found love again on the set of Below Deck, this time with a Swedish sailor named Morton.
