Why Was ESPN's Staple Anchor Linda Cohn Suspended In 2017?
Is a different political view from the company you work with supposed to hamper your career?
Linda Cohn- who has been inducted into the National Sports Media Association (NSMA) Hall of Fame- has been the staple anchor of ESPN since 1992. But that didn’t stop ESPN from suspending her over a political view they disagree with.

While appearing on The Bernie and Sid show (April 27, 2017) on WABC Radio, she stated that ESPN had lost its fan base and subscribers for becoming too political.
"You're right. That is definitely a percentage of it. I don't know how big a percentage. But if anyone wants to ignore that fact, they're blind. That's what I meant about the core group that made ESPN so successful ..."I felt that the old-school viewers were put in a corner and not appreciated with all these other changes."
This statement led to the suspension of Cohn by ESPN president John Skipper.
But ESPN can’t get away with the political hypocrisy, as when the leftist Jemele Hill posted degrading words to the POTUS carrying leftist view, no strict actions were taken against her at all.
ESPN is known to be more of a leftist when it comes to politics, and this has made many of there conservative (right wing) members feel alienated. One of the anonymous ESPN personality stated of ESPN’s biasses when it comes to political views.
“If Jemele can say that and Linda can’t say what she said, what kind of standard actually exists here? There isn’t one. There’s clearly a double standard. If you say things the company agrees with, you don’t get punished. If you say things the company disagrees with, you do get punished. Maybe even fired.”
But she is back on ESPN again after suspension. Hope she continues to do what she enjoys without getting dragged for a different political view at the workplace again!
