OIympian Jade Carey’s Weight Exercises Will Bring The Heat For Sure
In April of last year, elite gymnast Jade Carey mathematically qualified for the Tokyo Olympics with her vault performances at the Apparatus World Cup series from 2018 to 2020.
Carey had already qualified for the USA’s four-person team competing for the team medals through the Olympic trials. However, that would have meant that the United States would send one less gymnast to Tokyo overall since Carey had already earned her spot separately.
Although Carey participated in the trials, she only accepted the individual invitation she earned, allowing one more American gymnast to go to Tokyo. The U.S. women's Olympic gymnastics team consists of Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Grace McCallum.
Carey always dreamed of going to the Olympics, but it wasn’t until she was older that she saw it as a possibility and truly pursued it. She finally fulfilled her dream with hard work, and currently, she’s preparing for the 2021 US Gymnastics Championships.
Carey’s Exercise Routines
She debuted a unique new skill during the Olympic trials: a triple-twisting double back layout (or triple-double layout). Carey’s splits and jumps look effortless to an untrained eye, but it is a different story behind the scenes.
The future Oregon State University gymnast puts hours upon hours of practice to perfect her routines and improve her skills on the bars and beam.
According to Popsugar, once a week, Carey and her teammates do an ab circuit at gymnastics practice that consists of about 25 different exercises. All the exercises are done lying on the ground and focused on the core.
Carey opines that it is a quick but efficient workout.
It’s pretty quick, but it’s still pretty hard and a good workout.
There are six main bodyweight exercises: Hollow Hold, Hollow Body Rock, V-Up, Single-Leg V-Up, Straddle V-Up, and Arch, which Carey recommends doing 25 to 30 reps. The exercises will give you a good burn and help you connect with your inner Carey.
Most of the moves are based on the pike and hollow body shapes, which are crucial for achieving the correct form necessary for swinging on bars and certain tumbling passes.
Carey’s Other Physical Activities
For Carey, hitting the gym and exercising is part of her life. Outside the gym, she keeps herself physically active by partaking in outdoor activities, which is evident from her Instagram posts.
On March 26, 2020, she uploaded a photo of her back and appeared to be on a descent after a hike on Piestewa Peak. A month later, she uploaded a photo of her doing a handstand atop a rock. According to her captions, she was on a camping trip.
It appears Carey also loves archery. She uploaded a photo of her ready-to-shoot with her bow and arrow and wrote in the captions that she enjoyed herself. Besides that, there are many pictures of her swimming, kayaking, cycling, which shows that she works equally hard outside the gym to maintain her weight and stay active.
