To fans' delight, The Family Business was renewed for the third season midway through its second season. On December 4, 2020, BET+ picked up season 3 of Carl Weber’s crime family drama based on his bestselling crime drama book series.

“To be granted a Season 3 is a testament to the strength and tenacity of our entire Family Business Team and our ability to uplift and entertain our audience in the midst of it all,” Nikaya D. Brown Jones, the executive producer, and showrunner, stated.

The Family Business season 3 production reportedly began in January 2021 in Los Angeles.

Weber Claims the Upcoming Season to Be His ‘Best Work’ to Date

The Family Business, which was originally developed as an independent film franchise, centers around the Duncans, an upstanding family that owns and operates an exotic car dealership in New York.

The series was first released as an eight-episode limited series on November 13, 2018. A successful first season was followed by its second season, which premiered between July 2, 2020, and December 31, 2020.

After the show got picked for another season, the creator and co-producer Weber has raised the excitement for the fans even high before The Family Business Season 3 with his one statement.

The Virginia State University alum claimed the upcoming season would be the “best work” he had written to date.

'The Family Business' Season 3 Has Some New Cast Members

BET+ confirmed the renewal of the contract for the mentioned actors. The others who have made it to the list are Javicia Leslie, Sean Ringgold, Tami Roman, Miguel A. Nunez, Arrington Foster, KJ Smith, Dylan Weber, Yadi Valerio, and Emilio Rivera.

Smith, the actress who portrayed Sasha Duncan in the first two seasons as a recurring cast, has now been promoted to series regular for Season 3.

The actors, including Stan Shaw, Sheila E., Denise Boutte, Jasper Cole, Lew Temple, Horace Dodd, Ben Stephens, Jasmin Brown, Kearia Schroeder, and Desiree Mitchell, have also made their cut for the upcoming season.

'The Family Business' Has Received Mixed Reviews

The first two seasons of the series have received mixed reviews from viewers on sites like IMDb.

“The acting, production, stunts and directing in this movie makes me irk,” one critiqued on IMDb. “It's very sad because I have seen few of the actors act real good in other movies. I am confused as to what is going on with this movie. Seems rushed. No commitment.”

Another viewer commented that he loved the show, writing, “I've read all of Carl Weber's books. I truly enjoyed The Family Business series.”
