Australian-born American broadcast journalist and attorney Savannah Guthrie is a proud mother of two children: Vale Guthrie Feldman and Charles Max Feldman.

She shares her two little munchkins with her husband, Democratic political and communications consultant Michael Feldman, with whom she has been married since March 15, 2014.

Savannah Guthrie’s Struggles to Become Pregnant

But the journey of becoming a mother was not an easy one for Guthrie, as she went through a lot in her life, including a miscarriage.

During a recent interview with Good Housekeeping, where she appeared together with her NBC’s Today show co-star Hoda Kotb, the 50-year-old anchor admitted that she had doubts if she would be able to conceive when she was 41 and after a miscarriage nonetheless.

And at that age, she was yet to become a mother.

"I stopped even letting myself hope or believe I could [get pregnant], because the years were getting on," she described her situation. "It wasn’t that I thought it was impossible; I just thought it wasn’t likely. I didn’t want to get my hopes up."

Guthrie even consoled herself by telling her that she was blessed with so much in her life — and not having a baby shouldn't be making her feel down.

"Looking back, that mindset was probably a self-defense mechanism," she added.

Supported by Husband and Mother

But then, the television personality also understood the importance of having great support systems, people around them to stay positive and believe things could turn in their favor.

For her, that support system in her life from the very beginning was her mother, who reportedly helped Guthrie fight many issues in her life.

"It was great to have her, because she was just always so certain," she recalled. "She’d say, 'Well, of course you’re going to have your family, Savannah!' It felt good."

Later, she also found support from her husband Feldman, with whom she began dating after meeting during a vacation on Turks and Caicos in 2009.

The two eventually went on to become engaged in 2013 and married on March 15, 2014, in Tucson, Arizona.

Experienced Miscarriage but Is Blessed with Two Children

Two days after the wedding, Guthrie surprisingly announced that she was four months pregnant with her and Feldman's first baby.

"I — well, we — are four months pregnant," Guthrie said in March 2014. "We are so excited, overjoyed and feel so blessed."

On August 13, 2014, the couple welcomed their first baby, daughter Vale, who weighed in at 8 lbs. 5 oz., and measured 19.5 inches long. According to Guthrie, Vale "has blue eyes, a little bit of blondish hair and the chubbiest cheeks you've ever seen."

But the television host's troubles didn't end there, as she experienced a miscarriage afterward. The miscarriage definitely hurt her a lot; however, she was committed to fighting her fears.

She, therefore, went through two rounds of IVF, after the miscarriage, which helped her become pregnant again. And this time, she welcomed her second child, a son named Charles, together with her husband in 2016.

Speaking with Good Housekeeping, she expressed that she and her children were in a happy space in their lives with no regrets of her being an "older" mom.

Instead, she believed she could give more time to her family, as the "30-year-old version of me" would not have been able to balance work and family life.
