Hoping for a "new year, a new beginning," Peter Facinelli proposed to his girlfriend Lily Anne Harrison on New Year's Eve in 2019.

On January 2, 2020, People announced that the Twilight actor popped the question to his actor/writer girlfriend, Harrison, during their getaway in Mazatlan, Mexico. They were joined by Facinelli's daughters from his previous marriage and Harrison's parents for the celebration.

The actor proposed while the couple enjoyed a romantic beach dinner at the Estrella Del Mar Beach and Golf Resort, hoping to marry soon. 

However, the couple has been forced to put their wedding planning on hold due to the pandemic.

In People's April 1, 2021's issue, Facinelli said he did not have a date because he did not know when the pandemic would end.

The actor deferred to his fiancée, Harrison, in the wedding planning.

"I'm sure I'd like to be a part of it, but at the end of the day, I think it's more important to me that she's happy and it's her special day," he said.

But the actor did get in a request, "I'd like to get married on a beach somewhere."

The way Facinelli talked about the wedding, there were no chances of a pandemic wedding.

Later on October 20, 2021, the Nurse Jackie alum again talked about the couple's marriage with People. 

"I want [our wedding] to be in a world where there's no masks," said Facinelli. However, the actor said they were not in a rush. "We're devoted to each other and we're living a life together," he added.

And even though the actor hoped to tie the knot in 2022, he said, "I already feel married. We have everything besides the piece of paper and the party!"

As of 2022, no reports have been made about their big day.

Peter Facinelli's Failed Marriage to Ex Jennie Garth

Facinelli was previously married to actress Jennie Garth for 12 years, from 2001 to 2013. The former couple shocked fans when they announced their separation in 2012.

They had three daughters, Luca, 24, Lola, 19, and Fiona, 15. And they were determined to co-parent successfully after the breakup for the sake of their three daughters.

Over the years, the exes have maintained a positive relationship, and in 2017 they were spotted vacationing together in Cancun, Mexico, with their three kids. Harrison and Garth's husband, Dave Abrams, also joined them.

The Thirteen Minutes star recently opened up to ET Canada about his failed marriage with ex-wife Garth and how he's protecting his relationship with his fiancée Harrison.

Facinelli said that the beginning of any relationship is wonderful, but things go wrong when bad things become habitual. 

"All of a sudden it gets habitual and it grows, and then you get resentful when you try to change those habits," he said.

And considering this, the actor said that he told his fiancée, "I really want to hold onto this. I want to be really careful with each other, and let's really work hard every day to not get into bad habits."

Facinelli and Harrison have been dating for almost six years as of 2022.
