'RHOA' Star NeNe Leakes Makes a Personal Confession about Husband Gregg Leakes Being on His Deathbed

NeNe Leakes has come out with a heartbreaking confession about her husband’s health struggles.

"My husband is transitioning to the other side," the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum told guests at her Atlanta lounge, The Linnethia.

The admission came during a recent night out at her lounge, after someone called her “rude” for not acknowledging a birthday in the crowd. NeNe, who was at the lounge with her son, eventually took the mic to ask for respect and love during a time when their family was hurting.

"You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now," she addressed the people who had called her out before adding,

We walked in this lounge because we had to walk in this lounge because this is our business. So, when people approach and say, ‘you’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday,’ my husband is at home dying. I don’t want to say ‘happy birthday,’ okay?

The RHOA star went on to say that her husband, Gregg Leakes, had a "different" situation compared to the other cancer patients.

Shortly after NeNe's confession was uploaded by the patrons of her lounge, she also took to Instagram on August 29 to address the news. She shared an image that simply read “Broken” and featured a broken heart emoji and prayer hands emoji.

"So saddened by this news. Sending you and your family love, support and prayers," entrepreneur Cynthia Bailey commented on the post. American singer Tamar Braxton said, "I love you with my entire heart."

Her words at her lounge, as well as her Instagram, make it pretty clear that Gregg is losing his battle with cancer and presumably is on his deathbed.

Gregg Leakes' Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment

NeNe had previously confirmed that her husband was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2018. The situation got better after treatment.

However, in June this year, Leakes reported that Gregg's cancer had returned, and he was undergoing surgery. He also remained hospitalized for six weeks afterward.

"He’s in the hospital. He’s been in the hospital. Tomorrow it’ll be a week," she said during an Instagram Live with The Jasmine Brand at that time. "I’m sure he’ll be home in about a week or so. He had to have a surgery, [because] his cancer did return."

NeNe Leakes and Gregg Leakes' Relationship

The couple has had an on-and-off relationship. NeNe and Gregg first met in 1996 when NeNe was 28 and worked as an exotic dancer.

A year later, they got married and subsequently welcomed their first child together — a son, Brentt Leakes, in February 1999.

But the relationship hit lows in 2011 when the two filed for divorce after 14 years together. The RHOA's third and fourth seasons even followed the reason for their split, as Gregg claimed that fame had gotten to NeNe's head.

The good thing about the split was it didn't last for long. In 2012, they began seeing each other and eventually got engaged in January 2013 and walked down the aisle again in June.

Since then, the couple has been together, with NeNe currently standing by Gregg's side as he is fighting for his life.
