If you have watched the television sitcom, Reba, you must be familiar with Melissa Peterman. In the show, she played the role of Barbra Jean, a dental hygienist, and shared the screen with actress Reba McEntire.

Peterman is also renowned for her role as Bonnie Wheeler in the ABC Family/Freeform series Baby Daddy and has hosted ABC's Bet on Your Baby, CMT's The Singing Bee, and ABC Family's Dancing Fools.

The actress who shared the spotlight for several years had her fair share of headlines and rumors. Among them, the story of the actress undergoing a weight loss transformation has lived on for a long time.

But did Peterman really undergo weight loss? If yes, how did Melissa Peterman lose weight?

The gossips relating to her weight first started swirling around the internet when fans noticed her putting on weight during her appearance at Veterans Administration Complex in California in August 2005.

In November that year, she attended the Seventh Annual Family Television Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Evident in the pictures, fans again pointed out that the actress had gained some weight.

But the same fans also saw her get back to good shape when Peterman walked down the red carpet during CMT Giants Honoring Reba McEntire event at Kodak Theatre in California in October 2006.

Her pictures from the different events between 2005 and 2006 clearly showed that the actress had put on weight initially but also shed it off within a year.

However, the actress never personally admitted going through any weight gain or weight loss transformation, which keeps the details of how she lost her weight under wraps.

Peterman was pregnant with her only child, son Riley, with her husband John Brady in 2005. Interestingly, it was the same time when fans had noticed her gaining weight.

Because of that, her weight gain was likely the result of her pregnancy. And after she gave birth to her son, she lost her pregnancy weight, too.

Speaking to Self magazine in April 2011, the actress revealed she ate a very precise diet to keep herself healthy. She shared that she usually started her morning with an organic egg white omelet and fresh spinach picked from her garden.

She continued to add,

Then I eat an apple on the way to his [son] preschool, and the closest thing I have had to a fresh fruit smoothie since I had my son is a watermelon jolly rancher! For special occasions, I add cinnamon in my cottage cheese and dip the apple.

Presently, Peterman lives a very healthy life along with her husband and son. In October this year, her son also turned 16-year-old, and on that day, she posted a picture of herself and her son, writing she was very proud of him.

Meanwhile, the talented actress is the recurring cast of the coming-of-age sitcom television series Young Sheldon, as she plays the role of Brenda Sparks. The show stars Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Montana Jordan, and Wyatt McClure.
