Little Mix made an announcement saying they are going on a hiatus after their Confetti tour, which is scheduled for April/May 2022. The three remaining members of the girl group — Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Perrie Edwards — broke the news via the group’s Twitter and Instagram pages.

Uploading a compilation video of Little Mix throughout the years, the trio wrote they were taking a break from the group after 10 years together. The purpose of the break is said to be to recharge and work on other projects.

Towards the end of the post, Little Mix thanked their fans for the support and assured them that they were not splitting.

We are not splitting up - Little Mix are here to stay 𐲘 We have plans for more music, tours and performance in the future. We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make many more.

Jesy Nelson’s Departure From Little Mix

Little Mix’s announcement about their hiatus comes nearly a year after the group saw one of their members, Jesy Nelson, leave.

Nelson declared she would leave the group in December 2020 because being in the band was having a negative impact on her mental health. “I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.”

Following her exit from Little Mix, Nelson shared she had signed with Polydor Records in May 2021. She released her debut solo single ‘Boyz’ featuring Nicki Minaj on October 2021.

Is Little Mix Splitting?

Though Thirlwall, Pinnock, and Edwards said they weren’t splitting in the post announcing their break, fans are still worried that the group might split. Even before the trio revealed they were going on a hiatus, there were many speculations about the group going their separate ways.

With the group uploading the music video for their song ‘Between Us’ on the same day that they announced their break, many are convinced that it’s a farewell song.

Some have pointed out that several lines in the song hint at their split. “When the curtains close and all of the lights go down, Safe to say I’ll stay, I will always stick around.”

And with many of the group’s members going for solo projects, an increasing number of people are believing the speculations.

Pinnock fronted a 2021 documentary on racial inequality in the music industry with BBC iPlayer and also took on her first big screen role in the movie Boxing Day. On top of making her presence known in the acting world, she also has her own swimwear line, In A Seashell, which was launched in 2019.

Similarly, Edwards has also launched her own luxury clothing line called Disora. And while Thirlwall hasn’t launched her own fashion line, she became the face of Ellesse in September and collaborated with Beauty Bay in October for an eyeshadow palette.

Thirlwall has also been making regular TV appearances and runs a nightclub called Arbeia in Newcastle.
