Did Chip Chrome Cause Jesse Rutherford and Devon Lee Carlson’s Break Up?

Jesse Rutherford and Devon Lee Carlson are the epitomai of "couple goals" to many people. 

The two have been together since they were teenagers but briefly broke up in 2015 before getting back together. Their love story has been idolized by many, and the pair were also dubbed 2019's "most 2019 couple" by the GQ.

But recently, many have been questioning if the pair are still together or they have parted ways. This is because many signs indicate their break up.

Rutherford has deleted all the pictures of himself and his girlfriend from his Instagram. Similarly, Carlson removed "Jesse's girlfriend" from her TikTok bio, which further fueled the rumors of their break up. 

She has also been avoiding questions related to their relationship. Moreover, she has not answered the comments on her social media, asking if the duo are still together. 

Since neither Rutherford nor Carlson have clarified their relationship status at the moment, everything is mere speculation. As there are signs that the two have split, there are a few signs that they have not.

Jesse Rutherford and Devon Lee Carlson's Break Up Debunked 

The speculations of the break up have been going on since late 2021. On November 22, 2021, a TikTok user named @gl33pgl00rp3mm3 thoroughly analyzed the couple's relationship status. 

She defended them and claimed the couple was still together. Her main reason was that Rutherford and Carlson had not confirmed their split explicitly. 

She reasoned Carlson deleted her bio as the influencer getting tired of it, and it was a "pretty valid human thing." 

@gl33pgl00rp3mm3 noted Rutherford did not delete all the pictures of his girlfriend from Instagram because of the split. 

Instead, he did so to remove the trace of Rutherford to further his alter ego, Chip Chrome (@chipchrome). Many fans of Rutherford and Carlson took to Reddit to discuss of the pair was still together. 

There, many believed that the couple parted ways. The reasons were the same — deleted pictures, deleted bio, and no public appearances together.

Regardless, a few believed the couple was still together. A user, u/Watermelonsugarz29, pointed out that the singer did an advert about suitcases in December that was posted on his Instagram. 

The video showed him throwing clothes in a bedroom, and the bedroom was Carlson's. The latter recently bought a new house and the bedroom there was the same one as the advert. 

u/Watermelonsugarz29 noted Rutherford might be hiding from the internet because of his singing career. 

Similarly, another user pointed out that the singer had not appeared in Carlson's vlogs, but she had pictures of him in her house. u/digitaldisgust said that Carlson had liked a comment that said the break up was just a rumor. 

Chip Chrome Cover Up

Rutherford has an alter ego named Chip Chrome, who has taken over the singer. While talking with Interview Magazine on January 23, 2020, The Neighbourhood frontman discussed the alter ego. 

He revealed he had the idea for Chip Chrome since mid-2017. He debuted @chipchrome when he turned 27 and "killed @jesserutherford" simultaneously.

He revealed a subtle nod to the 27 Club conspiracy theory related to singers and influencers dying at 27.

Since "Jesse Rutherford" is no more and Chip Chrome has taken over, Carlson might technically have broken up with Rutherford. Carlson has followed @chipchrome on Instagram and vice versa. 

Similarly, the two have pictures together as well. Therefore, this means that the pair are still together, and they have not parted ways. 

But until and unless Carlson and Rutherford/Chip Chrome confirm their relationship status, nothing can be said for sure.
