There is good news for Jeopardy! fans as two new hosts for the game show have finally been announced.

On Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2021, the announcement, revealing Mayim Bialik and Mike Richards as the new hosts, was dropped through the official Twitter handle of Jeopardy!

Sony Pictures Television, which currently serves as the show's production company, further revealed in a public release that Richards would kick off Season 38 as the full-time host of the syndicated show. In addition, the game show host will continue to serve as executive producer of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune.

On the other hand, Bialik is set to host Jeopardy!’s primetime and spinoff series, including the upcoming all-new Jeopardy! National College Championship.

While announcing the news, Ravi Ahuja, the chairman of Global Television Studios and Corporate Development for Sony Pictures, shared his excitement for the game show after the demise of the original host, Alex Trebek. He said,

We took this decision incredibly seriously. A tremendous amount of work and deliberation has gone into it, perhaps more than has ever gone into the selection of hosts for a show – deservedly so because it’s Jeopardy! and we are following the incomparable Alex Trebek.

"We are thrilled to begin the next chapter of America’s Favorite Quiz Show, with Mike hosting our daily show and Mayim hosting new versions of Jeopardy!" Ahuja added.

The public release also stated that the decision to bring two new hosts was made by a senior group of executives at Sony Pictures Television after reviewing footage from every episode hosted by the ongoing season’s guest hosts.

Various research from multiple panels, focus groups, and input from the show’s partners and viewers was also considered.

Mike Richards

Richards is an established television personality and producer who has hosted shows like Beauty and the Geek, The Pyramid, and Divided.

After being announced as the new host for the hit show, the 46-year-old is excited about the opportunity.

"Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined being chosen to step into a role of this magnitude. I am incredibly humbled to step behind the lectern and will work tirelessly to make sure our brilliant contestants shine in each and every episode," he said publicly.

That being said, some fans have been questioning the appointment of Richards after his role as exec producer was brought out last week. Not only that, but his involvement in discrimination lawsuits has also made fans unhappy about his hiring.

Mayim Bialik

Bialik is an American actress, game show host, neuroscientist, and author, who appeared as a neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory between 2010 and 2019.

Back in the day, she made a name for herself, playing the title character of the NBC sitcom Blossom from 1991 to 1995.

"I couldn’t be more thrilled to join the Jeopardy! family," the 45-year-old said about her new employment. "I’m so grateful and excited to continue to work with Mike Richards, and I’m just over the moon to join forces with him and Sony."

Meanwhile, Bialik is also starring and executive producing in Fox's British sitcom Call Me Kat.
