Édgar Ramírez catapulted to fame when he appeared as Ciro Redondo Garcia in Steven Soderbergh’s Che.

Since then, he has appeared in many films and series, including a criminal in Olivier Assayas’ miniseries, in Carlos, and a supportive ex-husband of Jennifer Lawrence in Joy. 

He also starred as Gianni Versace in American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, which earned him his second Golden Globes nomination.

The question of his sexuality probably started when he starred as the famous gay designer Gianni Versace in American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. He played the love interest of Ricky Martin, who was playing Antonio D’Amico. 

The series backtracks to uncover the murder of the famous designer by the Versace fanboy, Andrew Cunanan, played by Darren Criss. During an interview with IndieWire, Ramírez said it was destiny that he and Martin ended up starring as love interests. 

Although the actor mentioned nothing about being gay off-screen, he iterated that he was proud to be part of a project that dealt with homophobia with a political and social overtone.

The actor has been linked to several ladies in the past, even though he has not confirmed nor denied being in a relationship or married with any. 

His most notable relationship includes his friendship with Ana de Armas. The duo met during a cast reading of Hands of Stone, organized by Robert De Niro in 2013. The actor had taken to social media to recount the day they met and expressed his appreciation for the Cuban actress. 

Ramírez wrote that Armas was one of the bravest women he knew, and since their meeting, his love and admiration for the actress had grown. He added that he was proud of her, before noting he adored and respected her.

The exchange made fans speculate that Armas was his girlfriend, but this was never confirmed. 

Another actress Ramírez was linked to was his Telenovela co-star Marisa Roman.

In 2017, Roman posted a sweet Instagram post of her kissing the actor’s cheek. The post seemed relatively harmless, but it did not stop fans from speculating that they were dating. 

So far, everything related to Ramírez’s love life appears to be speculation, and no one seems to know the truth.
