Meet Chris Bassett’s Wife RHOP Star Candiace Dillard

If you have tuned in to The Real Housewives of Potomac, you will recognize Chris Bassett and his wife, Candiace Dillard Bassett. The husband and wife duo went through a fair share of marital woes when tension arose between the couple and Candiace’s mother, Dorothy.  

Candiace has been married to her husband since 2018. The couple met while working at a restaurant in Washington, D.C. They were friends for many years before they fell in love with each other. 

Chris is a chef and owns Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster BBQ restaurant. The restaurant used to serve celebrity chef and four-time barbecue World Champion Myron Mixon’s special barbecues.

During season 5’s reunion of the reality series, Chris revealed that he had sold the restaurant but did not reveal why. 

These days Chris helps Candiace manage her music career. 

Candiace Bassett’s Career

Candiace is more than just a reality star. 

From a young age, her parents, who worked in different aspects of the medical field, ingrained in her values of excellence.

She graduated from Howard University and served a tenure in the White House Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs. 

She served as a staffer for President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign after serving as a liaison officer for the White House and the African American community. 

In 2013, Candiace was crowned Miss United States.

The former Miss USA has tons of pageant experience and ranks high in many pageant systems in the U.S. But, despite her many titles, she considers herself an artist deep down. 

She starred in the award-winning independent film Water in a Broken Glass and appeared as Sunita Chanel alongside Tia Mowry in the sitcom Family Reunion. Besides acting, the reality star loves to sing and has been singing most of her life. 

During her wedding reception, which aired on season 4 of The Real Housewives Of Potomac, viewers heard her vocal chops when she sang ‘I See You’ to her husband.

In fact, the songstress recently announced that she is signed to MNRK Music Group. 

She also released her album Deep Space and thanked her husband, who is also her manager, for everything. 

Candiace Bassett on Her New Album

Recently, the entire cast of RHOP, including Candiace, sat down with Nicki Minaj for the season 6 reunion of RHOP.

As an artist herself, Minaj also showed support and appreciation for Basset’s budding music career.

Candiace recently released her first single, ‘Drive Back,’ and revealed that the song had over half a million streams and was number 24 on the Billboard R&B charts and number 4 on iTunes. 

Minaj even encouraged her to give a mini-performance of ‘Drive Back.’ Candiace hesitated initially, but eased into it after a bit of encouragement.

She impressed everyone and was met with a huge round of applause.  

The singer also shared that she had sold 20,213 albums in one week. But the number will likely increase as Candiace is busy promoting her album.
