It has been happy parenthood for Ashlyn Harris and her wife Ali Krieger since the arrival of their baby girl, Sloane Phillips.

The couple, both of whom play professionally in the National Women's Soccer League for the Orlando Pride, have fully committed themselves to their baby, putting family first over everything else.

But the transition from being regular soccer players to full-time parents hasn’t been easy for the first-time parents.

Putting Family First and Mental Challenge

Speaking with People on August 12, 2021, Harris opened up on how she and her long-time partner have prioritized their family life in the last 6 months and the challenges they have had faced doing that.

Family comes first now. Before, to be the best at what we do, we've had to put ourselves first. That's kind of been our life since we were kids. Now that we have a child, our day just begins when we get home from training. Our life revolves around our child and what she needs...

Sharing a similar sentiment, Krieger also shared that their daughter Phillips is always at the back of their minds, making them worry about her constantly.

But she explained that being teammates for so long has helped them to coordinate as parents as well. She even joked that they high-fived each other in the hall whenever they put their daughter to sleep.

In the candid interview, the two revealed Phillips’ favorite solid food was beets, and the little one equally enjoyed living in a “family bubble” with the Summersalt Swimwear duo.

Welcomed Daughter Via Adoption

Harris and Krieger became first-time parents when they welcomed their baby girl into their home in February 2021. They adopted her from an undisclosed mother after she was born on February 12.

The couple took to their respective social media handles to share the happy news, thanking the birth mother for helping them with the adoption and blessing their lives with their little bundle of joy.

“Dear Birth Mom, Our promise: We promise Sloane will be loved every single day by us, our friends and our family. We promise to give her the tools to live a happy, successful life of inclusivity and support,” they wrote in their lengthy mutual statement.

Following the arrival of their daughter, the couple has regularly updated their Instagram feed with pictures of their adorable family.

Harris and Krieger’s Relationship

Harris and Krieger have been together since they first met in 2010 at the USWNT training camp. They instantly felt something special for each other and started as friends.

Soon, they developed a romantic relationship but kept it a secret for a long time out of fear of losing endorsement deals.

The couple eventually made their relationship public while announcing their December 2019 wedding. On December 28, they tied the knot in front of their friends and family members in Miami.

Their wedding saw Megan Rapinoe, Harris’ best friend and USWNT team captain, as the maid of honor, Kyle Krieger, Krieger’s brother as best man, and Sydney Leroux, the Orlando Pride player, as the officiant.
