A Look into Alex Moffat and Wife Caroline Rau's Private Married Life
Alex Moffat is an American actor and comedian renowned for being the cast member on Saturday Night Live.
He made his SNL debut on October 1, 2016, in an episode hosted by Margot Robbie, alongside Mikey Day and Melissa Villaseñor. The musical guest for the evening was The Weeknd.
The Chicago, Illinois native, born on March 25, 1982, has appeared in films and television shows like Netflix’s Holidate, Ralph Breaks the Internet, The Opening Act, and Billions.
Moffat is also a married man. The comedian has been married to his wife Caroline Rau, aka Caroline Kingsley, since August 19, 2017.
Moffat’s Wife Is Also a Comedian
The 2000 graduate of North Shore Country Day School found a wife who shares the same profession with him.
Moffat’s wife Rau is also a comedian who runs a one-woman show titled The Violet Hour, where she stars as Winifred Coombe.
Her IMDb profile suggests that she directed and produced 2016’s documentary film The Coming Woman, which is about the first American woman to run for President getting erased from the history books after fighting for free love.
Interestingly, Rau has public social media accounts but not under her name. Both her Instagram and Twitter handles are named after her comedic “alter-dimensional-ego” character Winifred.
Winifred’s social media bio describes her as a “Spiritualist, magician, High Priestess, inter-dimensional spacetime traveler.”
Moffat and Rau’s Relationship Timeline
The comedian couple is very secretive about their relationship, keeping their day-to-day updates under wraps.
That being said, Moffat and Rau reportedly first met in 2012 at an audition for the Velveeta Cheese commercial and subsequently started dating.
In March 2016, the SNL cast went down on his knees and proposed to Rau.
A little over a year later, the duo finally tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony. And they have been inseparable ever since.
They Became Parents This Year
Moffat and Rau are now parents to a baby. The pair welcomed their first child together in February 2021.
The comedian confirmed the news while speaking with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Starring Jimmy Fallon the same month.
“But I do more breastfeeding than I used to,” Moffat jokingly said when Fallon asked him if his life had changed after being a dad.
Most recently, on Tuesday, June 29, the Comedy Club of Kansas City’s Instagram handle also posted a video of him walking around the streets of Kansas City carrying his baby in a baby carrier.
In the video, he announced that he would be performing in the city’s comedy club the following weekend.
Rau had taken to Instagram to reveal her pregnancy on October 23, 2020.
In the cryptic post, she showed her baby bump and wrote:
I swallowed a pumpkin seed in another dimension and now shall be giving birth to some kind of gourd-child.
Following that, The Violet Hour host was regularly spotted posting pictures with her baby bump on her Instagram.
