A Look at 50 Cent’s Clapbacks at ‘All Things Fall Apart’ Weight Loss Memes
Curtis James Jackson, professionally known as 50 Cent, has made a name for himself in the music industry, with many accolades under his belt. However, his involvement in the movie industry is no less.
He has appeared in over 30 films and TV series as an actor, producer, writer, or director. Some of his notable works include Power, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Escape Plan, 13, and Before I Self Destruct.
Whenever the hip-hop mogul works on a project, he entirely dedicates himself to it. This is most evident in his 2011 movie, All Things Fall Apart. He wrote the movie and starred as the main character, Deon.
50 Cent had to lose over 55 pounds for the role. It has been ten years since the movie was released, but online trolls continue to make memes about his weight loss.
50 Cent Reacts to Memes
On August 28, 2021, the actor took to Instagram to post a picture of a meme. The meme had two pictures — a recent picture of 50 Cent and him as Deon.
In addition, the image had a caption that said 50 Cent lost weight for a movie no one saw. He retaliated via the Instagram caption, saying that people were making fun of discipline.
He then pointed out that if he called someone fat, it would be regarded as fat-shaming. This is not the first time 50 Cent has called out such memes. On January 16, 2018, he posted a photo that joked about his weight loss.
The meme featured a shot of Deon sleeping on a bed wearing an oxygen pipe and a text that said 50 Cent took the role, thinking he would win an Oscar.
The text further said that All Things Fall Apart "went straight to BET Blackbuster Cinema." The actor instead promoted his movie Den Of Thieves and said, "we lit."
50 Cent's Drastic Weight Loss
It is understandable why 50 Cent was offended by the joke. Deon was modeled after the actor's childhood best friend, who died of cancer. All Things Fall Apart revolves around Deon, a famous football player who has a hereditary illness.
He shares the spotlight on and off the football field, despite his athletic prowess. Deon is battling cancer and is suffering, but all he wants to do is finish what he started.
To pay tribute to his friend and represent the gaunt persona correctly, 50 Cent lost almost 55 pounds in nine weeks just by exercising and diet control.
The dramatic weight loss happened after exercising three hours regularly and being on a strict liquid diet. The actor was motivated to lose weight by Robert De Niro, who shed 35 pounds for Taxi Driver.
50 Cent also had the tattoos on his arms erased. He did so after becoming frustrated with the amount of time he had to spend to cover them with makeup before stepping in front of the cameras.
The actor dedicated everything to the movie, but it was not well received by the critics. However, 50 Cent did not expect to win any awards for the film since All Things Fall Apart was a passion project for him.
He wanted to pay tribute to his friend, so he disciplined himself to portray Deon both physically and mentally.
