The CNN diva was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1983 to well-to-do parents, Valerie Jarrett, former government official, and William Jarrett, a doctor.

She was born in a wealthy and well-educated family. Sadly, Laura's parents divorced in 1988 when she was just 5. At the age of 10, another tragedy struck her life, as she mourned the loss of her father, who died from a heart attack, aged 40. 

As a child, the CNN reporter attended various schools in Chicago. A bright student, she had a knack for more intellectual subject matters even during her early age. After completing high school, the attorney, aged 33, she joined Harvard Law School.

While studying in Harvard Law School, she portrayed roles as Articles Selection co-chair, a technical editor as well as an Article Editor, for the Harvard Journal; which covered Law and Gender.

Adding to that, she even published her articles on the intersection of gender, violence, and the law. The Chicago native then graduated with a degree in Law in 2010.

After graduations, Laura went on to practice law in both federal and state court in Illinois.

Before practicing Law, Jarrett worked as a judicial Law clerk for Rebecca Pallmeyer, honorable judge of United States District Court of Illinois and later for Honorable Ann Williams on Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to that, she worked as a litigation attorney in her hometown of Chicago. She prioritized on the defense of companies and individuals as well as some pro bono cases such as sex trafficking.

The Chicago native joined CNN as a reporter in September 2016 based in Washington, D.C. bureau.

The exact figures of Laura Jarrett's net worth are not known until now. However, as reported, her job as a CNN reporter bags her a salary of about $105k a year.

Earlier in May 2018, Laura’s mother, Valerie Jarrett hit the news after she became the victim of unethical, racist comments by Roseanne Barr, an American actress, and writer.

Roseanne’s racially-tinged tweet suggested that Valerie Jarrett was a product of Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes” referring to Valerie as an Ape.

Jarrett fulfilled her dream when she got married in 2012 to her long-time boyfriend and college sweetheart Tony Balkissoon. Her husband is the son of former Legislative Assembly of Ontario member Bas Balkissoon. 

The duo first crossed their paths during their college days in Harvard Law School. And after regularly seeing each other during their college days, they began to feel more connected to each other--so they started dating.

And after several dates, the duo, with a decision to fortify their relationship and stay committed to each other, got engaged at the Paris Club.

The marriage took place in her grandmother’s residence, Hyde Park, Washington. A total of 280 guests were invited to her wedding which included a few very high profile names.

The wedding attracted a lot of attention as the former President of the USA, Barack Obama, was present at the wedding to congratulate Laura and wish her luck with the wedding. Some other big names to attend the wedding were First Lady Michelle Obama, their daughters Sasha and Malia Obama, and Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder among others.  

The bridal was held in the backyard under a large white marquee tent and it was indeed a lavish one as it had a lengthy list of high profile guests.

Although Laura has already celebrated her 6th wedding anniversary with her husband, they are yet to welcome a child for themselves.
