John Vause was born on August 22, 1968, in Townsville, Queensland, Australia to parents Warren and Jan Vause. He has a sister whose full details remain undisclosed. John had a normal life growing up. His passion for journalism started at an early age.
From 1981-1985 he attended Brisbane Boys College. After that, he attended the Queensland University and then started a Law degree in JCU but did not complete the course to attain his full degree.

John Vause has been working as a CNN presenter for over 25 years. He is currently the co-anchor for the 12-2 am show CNN Newsroom. He has been based in Atlanta, Beijing, Sydney, Jerusalem, Melbourne, Auckland, Canberra, and Los Angeles. His long stint in CNN has seen John cover some of the worlds biggest stories.
Vause was one of the last reporters to interview former Pakistan PM Benazir Bhutto. He has seen the devastation caused by some of the world’s biggest natural disasters which include Earthquakes in China and Haiti, Tsunami in Japan, the death of Kim Jung II and most recently the US government shutdown.
Not only does he present from the studio, but Vause also likes to get right down to the site of the incident. He has reported many times from the field. Most notably covering the Israel-Hezbollah war from both Gaza and Jerusalem which took place in 2014. He was also one of the few journalists who reported from New York during the 9/11 attack.
