Ana Navarro has proved what American singer Katherine Jenkins once said about love and the age gap: "A good relationship can work no matter what the situation is."

Navarro has been relishing her married life with Cardenas despite the age difference — she was 49 when her husband was 73 years old.

And the only regret she had about her relationship was that she and her partner didn't get married sooner.

On their second marriage anniversary on March 2, 2021, she uploaded a wedding photo on her Instagram and shared about her married life.

Telling that her relationship had passed the pandemic test with flying colors, she stated her sole regret was that they "didn't get started sooner."

The CNN political commentator also mentioned that she had never thought she could spend 24/7 for an entire year with the same person and still enjoy being together.

At the time, she also made it a point to care for her husband who unfortunately contracted COVID-19 from one of their houseworkers. During a conversation with ABC News, Navarro shared that her husband had to be admitted into a hospital for five days after being infected. 

When her husband was infected, Navarro also moved to a work-from-home model since she did not want to put anyone else at the studio at risk.

Navarro and Cardenas tied the knot at a waterfront venue, Indian Creek Country Club, in Miami Beach on March 2, 2019. The bride donned a white wedding gown designed by Luis Escudero for Rene Ruiz Collection, while her fiancé was clad in a black tuxedo.

"He treats me like I’m a princess, he treats me with so much love and respect… I like everything about him," she told People en Español after the wedding day. 

It was in October 2018 that the pair got engaged. Cardenas proposed with a square halo diamond, and Navarro took the joyful news to Instagram on October 11, 2018. 

She opened by saying that she had personal news to share before the Nicaragua native flaunted her engagement ring. And she added that a wedding was soon to follow. 

Now, she relishes her time with her husband — going to hikes in leisure and attending various events.

Though the pair has no children yet, they look after an adorable pooch named ChaCha. Navarro has even opened a separate Instagram account to chronicle her dog's life.

A supporter of the Republican party, Navarro is a veteran political analyst and strategist. Navarro shares her political ideas on various television programs and news outlets, including CNN. 

Likewise, her husband Al Cardenas is also into politics.

He has served as an adviser to US Presidents and is a respected name in the law and business field. He is the senior partner at The Advocacy Group at Cardenas Partner and a member of the International Republican Institute. 

Before Cardenas, Navarro was in a brief relationship with the owner of Seaway Hotels Corporation, Gene Prescott.
