With prolific roles on TV series — Edmure Tully on Game of Thrones, Prince Phillip on The Crown, and Frank Randall and Black Jack Randall on Outlander — English actor Tobias Menzies has grabbed an enormous deal of attention, predominantly over his love life.

The understatedly handsome actor with grooved cheeks, however, has kept his relationship details close to his heart since he got into public scrutiny for dating a married woman. 

Relationship With Kristin Scott Thomas

Menzies turned heads with his relationship with English actress Kristin Scott Thomas, partly because the duo shared 13 years of age gap, and they were accused of being in an extra-marital affair.

The Outlander actor first met the mother-of-three in 2003 while performing in Chekhov's The Three Sisters.

The news of their relationship, however, started two years later when Thomas was starring on the stage production of the movie As You Desire Me in London. She was still married to Gynecologist named François Olivenness.

Meanwhile, her closeness to Menzies became apparent when the two strolled along the King's Road in Chelsea and enjoyed a romantic meal in an Italian restaurant. After the meal, they went to Thomas' apartment, from where Menzies got out the other morning.

After their agent confirmed their budding relationship, Thomas divorced her spouse the same year. And as the divorce happened, her relationship with the Rome star also started to fizzle out.

The North London native and his girlfriend both flinched from giving details of their relationship and their breakup.

Despite the split, they seem to have maintained a friendly relationship. Menzies promoted his ex-girlfriend's movie, Military Wives, on May 22, 2020.

Since splitting up with Kristin Thomas, The Crown star has maintained privacy regarding his dating life.

His social media, mostly Twitter - he doesn't use Instagram - has not to been updated with any information about his relationship. 

Thus, it's unclear if the 47-years old is dating anyone or has already married. It can also be possible that the actor is relishing his singlehood to focus on his career. But, no conclusions can be made given that the actor has maintained privacy.

Clarified Gay Rumors Surrounding His Character

Menzies portrays the character of Jonathan or Black Jack on the American series, Outlander.

His character, though being male, had a borderline obsession with another male character Jamie Fraser, portrayed by Sam Heughan. In the wake of the incident where Black Jack forces a physical relation to Jamie, fans speculated if Black Jack was gay. 

But Menzies clarified the rumors in an interview with EW in May 2016. He asserted that his character’s sexuality hadn’t been defined as homosexual. He also cited that it was not a sexual attraction Jonathan had for Jamie but an envious bond.
