Michael is the youngest son of the founder of Orange County Choppers, Paul Teutul Sr., and his first wife, Paula Teutul.

At the mere age of 14, Michael started working at his family’s company, the Orange County Iron Works. When his father, Paul Sr. and brother Paul Jr. began Orange County Choppers, he joined them as an assistant general manager.

He also became part of the show's spin-off, American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior.

On rare occasions, Michael would also help build choppers, and eventually, he built his bike. When the family business became the basis for the series American Chopper, Michael played his role in the show to provide comic relief.
