Dominic Sherwood's dating life has always been a matter of curiosity for his fans, and rightfully so. Often regarded as one of the hottest men alive, Sherwood's chiseled face and buff body coupled with his impressive acting make him a heartthrob. 

Previously, he was in a relationship with Sarah Hyland and Niamh Adkins. 

His Relationship with Sarah Hyland

Sherwood's romantic connection with the American actress Hyland sprouted after they met on the sets of Vampire Academy in 2014. Sherwood portrayed Christian Ozera, and Hyland played Natalie in the show.

What started as a friendship soon blossomed into a romantic affiliation. And in January 2015, the pair officiated their relationship — flaunting their PDA-packed presence during West Hollywood’s Blind Dragon's opening.

Their growing chemistry was reflected in the way they praised each other during interviews. "He's amazing. He's an amazing person," the Modern Family actress told E! News in April 2015. 

The 31-year-old also shared similar sentiments while talking to ET in February 2016. He stated Hyland motivated him to be a better person. 

Sarah makes me want to be a better version of myself. That's what I love most about her. She inspires me to be the best version of me. 

The blissful union saw the pair attending various red carpet events, games, including Los Angeles Lakers games. However, the public appearance slowly subsided, and they stopped posting pictures of each other on social media, hinting they had separated.

Then in August 2017, ET reported they had parted amicably. A source close to the couple stated that their relationship "ran its course." 

Sherwood only broke his silence on the break-up a year after. Talking to Courier Mail, he shared that he and Hyland dealt with the split in different ways.

Sherwood Moved on with Niamh Adkins

They even enjoyed a tropical vacation and posted a picture from the journey on their Instagram. The now-deleted photo of them kissing spoke volumes of their romantic connection. 

However, the relationship ended the same way it started — privately.

That being said, both his publicly known ex-girlfriends have moved on. Hyland is engaged to Wells Adams while Adkins is in a relationship with actor Joe Ando.

He Apologized for Homophobic Slurs

In November 2017, Sherwood upset his fans from the LGBTQ+ community by using gay slurs.

His Shadowhunters co-star Matthew Daddario, who played a gay character in the show, was on Facebook Live. But Sherwood, who didn't know what was going on, greeted his colleague using a gay slur. 

Daddario quickly stopped him and notified him they were live.

Feeling guilty, Sherwood posted an apology on his Instagram, saying he was fully accountable and in no attempt to make excuses. He also expressed that his behavior was disgusting and apologized to all his followers.
