On 28 April 1987, Rosalyn Gold-Onwude was born to parents Pat Gold and Austin Onwude. She comes from a mixed ethnicity as her mother is Jewish and her father is Nigerian. Rosalyn played basketball at Archbishop Molloy High School in Briarwood, New York, and her team won two state titles in 2003 and 2004.

The 31-year-old analyst had her senior season finished early due to a knee injury but despite the injury, Rosalyn graduated high school as a highly decorated player, and after accepting a scholarship to Stanford University, she became the first female athlete in the program’s history to play Division I basketball. Â
The 5 ft 8 inch (1.78 meters) tall sports lover became Molloy’s all-time leading scorer and leader in assists and steals and was the standing point guard for the 2005 Stanford team as a fresher under coach Tara VanDerveer.
But a second knee injury redshirted Rosalyn for the entire 2007-07 season but returned as a shooting guard in 2007-08. Taking three consecutive trips to the Final Four with Stanford, Rosalyn got honored as the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year in her last season.
Rosalyn’s Broadcasting Career In Sports
Soon after graduating, Rosalyn worked for a short time for Tesla Motors and switched to sports broadcasting. Previously reporting for the Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco 49ers, Rosalyn announced that she was leaving NBC Sports Bay Area as she accepted a job for TNT and NBA TV in September 2017.
Rosalyn has become quite known in the Bay Area after having served for the Golden State Warriors as a sideline reporter since their 2014-15 NBA championship season. She still manages the time to play basketball despite being a full-time analyst.
In 2011, the basketball analyst was invited to play for the Nigerian national team that she accepted after consulting with ESPN. As a woman of color working in sports broadcasting, Rosalyn is recognized as a leader within women sportscasters.
