Kathy Griffin and Yashar Ali have an unusual relationship. Once best pals, things between them got sketchy as time passed on.

Their ties have generated a lot of questions over the years. Details about the connection was something of an enigma, like Ali himself.

But now, inside details about their relationship have emerged. However, there's still no consensus between them about the details.

Yashar Ali Helped Kathy Griffin Revive Her Career

Grifin was in a bit of a pickle after her controversial 2017 photoshoot, in which she posed holding a prop of former President Donald Trump's decapitated head. This had generated a lot of backlashes.

She received death threats, her friends turned on her, she was fired from CNN, and her endorsement deals and comedy tours fell off.

All this sent her career and her health in jeopardy. She developed an addiction to prescription drugs and even became suicidal.

Griffin always had her husband by her side. But that just helped her personal life. Her professional life needed more expert help.

This is where Ali enters her life.

Griffin turned to Ali, who was her favorite Twitter personality at the time, for some guidance. He had an enigmatic reputation as being a problem solver of sorts.

They immediately developed a connection after finding out they had attended the same high school in Chicago and had met each other at her house party years ago.

At first, they only wanted to do an interview clearing the air on the Trump situation. But it didn't remain an interviewer-interviewee situation for long.

Soon after this, Ali became her unofficial advisor and shadow publicist.

He increased her connections in Hollywood and educated her about social media. He even decided which late-night shows she should go to to revive her career.

In 2018, Griffin invited him to stay with her at her Bel-Air mansion. After this, he became even more involved in her life.

Despite never being paid by Griffin, he acted on her behalf in many aspects of her professional life.

He handled her accounts, social media, merchandise company, legal matters, and even groceries. All he was getting in return was rent-free time in her home.

However, things started getting weird when he became "reclusive" living there. Even his mail started getting delivered to her house.

Although it's not clear exactly when, but Griffin began getting unsure about his stay. And so did the people around her.

In fall 2018, journalist Joan Walsh pressed on the matter after feeling Griffin was uncomfortable with Ali's stay.

Walsh told her, "Kathy, you got yourself a grifter. You have to get him out of here.”

And so she did.

Kathy Griffin Kicked Yashar Ali Out

Griffin took her time, but according to Ali's LA Mag profile, she asked him to leave in early 2019.

People close to Griffin claimed he had stayed at her house for nine months. Further, the comedian also hired two assistants to help him pack.

Ali, however, disputed these details. He claimed he only stayed with Griffin for less than six months, and that too because she insisted.

The Twitter personality also said Griffin even threw him a going-away party.

The comedian has never responded to Ali's version of events. And that apparently has legal reasons.

As per Ali, he signed an NDA with Griffin, and that has restricted him from saying too much on the issue.

The once-friends have now moved on with their lives. Griffin is slowly getting back to being the prolific performer she always was, after her cancer scare.

As for Ali, he is going strong as ever, publishing hit piece after hit piece with a focus on politics recently.
