Vera Wang's biggest success came much later in life. She worked as an editor at Vogue for 17 years but eventually lost to Anna Wintour for editor-in-chief. She then became an accessories designer at Ralph Lauren.

Vera Wang's Marriage and Bridal Brand

Then, when she was about to turn 40 years old, her wedding to computer executive Arthur Becker happened. Wang thought she would never settle down, but after receiving some words of wisdom from her colleagues, she changed her mind.

She struggled to find a wedding dress she liked for her wedding, and her father saw it as a business opportunity, but Wang was uncertain.

She thought it was too late to start a business at her age, but her father kept encouraging her and eventually gave her the startup funds to open her first flagship store at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City in 1990.

Today her namesake brand is a global business spanning fashion, beauty, jewelry, eyewear, fragrance, and homewares. She has licensing deals with Zales, Kohl's, and David's Bridal and employs over 200 people.

As busy as the bridal fashion mogul is, she always made time for her daughters. Wang and her ex-husband, Becker, adopted their two daughters during the time they were together. The duo had "mutually and amicably agreed to separate" after twenty-three years of marriage, back in 2012.

However, they maintained a close relationship and raised their kids together.

Wang adopted daughters Cecilia Becker and Josephine Becker, who she affectionately refers to as "Cesi" and "Jo," when she was 41.

They were raised in New York City even though Wang had many houses in Paris and California. As daughters of a wealthy and famous designer, many would expect Cecilia and Josephine to be decked out in designer items, but that was far from true.

Wang, who frequently labeled herself anti-glamorous, dressed her children in regular everyday teenage fashions brands like Abercrombie and Fitch. But that did not mean that Wang did not keep it fashionable for her daughters.

She made sure she found fabulous pieces for her daughters at everyday teen stores.

And her kids also use their mother's talent to their full advantage. In an interview with Teen Vogue back in 2010, Cecilia admitted that she loved online shopping like any other teenager. But she also got advice from her mother about her fashion choices.

And thanks to her mother, she knew whether an outfit was good or bad straight away. She also iterated that her mother was open and opinionated at the same time. That was almost ten years ago.

Today she is a full-fledged adult, and according to her LinkedIn, she currently works as an Operations Administrator at CapSo Inc. There is not much information about Wang's second daughter, but Wang shared a photo of her in honor of her 28th birthday a week ago.

Wang often shares photos of her kids, which clearly shows how much she adores them.
