Sophia Bush said yes!

In a heartwarming Instagram post, the actress gushed about the moment, calling the proposal “the most incredible, moving surprise of my life.” Her fiancé echoed the same sentiments in his own Instagram post, noting he was excited to move forward in life with Bush. 

And of course, Bush’s friends and former co-stars flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages. Bush’s This Is Us co-star, Mandy Moore, commented, “Congrats lady!!!!” While One Tree Hill alum Bethany Joy Lenz gushed, “Love youuuuu!! So excited to you both."

Bush and Hughes were first spotted holding hands and showing some serious PDA during a romantic stroll in Malibu in May 2020. Both of them remained tight-lipped about their romance at the time.

However, Hughes gushed over his leading lady in an Instagram post at the beginning of this year. He noted that they had been friends for 8 years, and the pandemic finally opened his eyes to what he needed was right in front of him all along. 

Who is Grant Hughes?

According to his LinkedIn profile, Hughes graduated summa cum laude from the University of Oklahoma in 2005. He also has degrees from the University of Ljubljana, Loyola Marymount University, and the University of Michigan.

In June 2013, Hughes co-founded the Santa Monica-based organization called FocusMotion Health. According to the organization’s website, they “create data-driven orthopedic recovery solutions” for surgery patients. 

He also acted as the company’s chief strategy officer but appears to have left the company in November.

And like his fiancée, Hughes is passionate about giving back to his community and supports essential causes. He promoted a BuildOn fundraiser to help construct a three-room schoolhouse in Nepal and volunteered at the Skid Row Carnival of Love in addition to other philanthropic work.

He also attended a Black Lives Matter protest with Bush last year, and more recently, he supported the medical professionals and other essential workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. 

A brief scroll through his Instagram shows that the entrepreneur loves to travel, evidenced by the countless photos from his various travels in places such as Indonesia, Hawaii, Louisiana, and Canada. He also loves to participate in marathons and triathlons. 

Bush’s Past Relationship, and Why She Does Not Talk about It

This will be the Chicago P.D. star’s second marriage. She was previously married to her One Tree Hill co-star, Chad Michael Murray, from 2005 to 2006. 

In her recent appearance on the Inside of You podcast, the actress noted she would no longer be speaking about her ex. 

I’m not allowed to [talk about him] because I’ve tried to poke fun at being a dumb kid, and whenever I’ve done that, it gets twisted into I’m talking [ill] about somebody who I don’t even know anymore, who’s clearly a grown-up. 

Bush added she harbored no ill will for people of her past, and as far as her first marriage was concerned, she noted she was a very naïve 21-year-old kid, and that was all there was to it.
